Dog cross country idea

hi okay. a few days a go I was running with my dog through a forest and seeing as she has done agility before,I decided to send her over some logs.she LOVED it! then i saw a little ditch and sent her over that she LOVED that! then there was some flooding so there were some logs in a super shallow 7 inch pond.she just ran and jumped.Now this got me thinking...if agility was gotten from the idea of equine stadium jumping,why not have dog cross country(XC) competitions based on equine cross country?for anyone who does not know, in equine cross country there are jumps such as logs,fences ditches jumps going into water ect... so basically dog XC would be a mix between cross country jumps and a short endurance run.i for one think that my dog would love this sport and so would i.I would really appreciate some feedback and more ideas on this proposal and depending on what it is like may try to go a bit further with this idea.

Hi Melissa,
Our dogs love to run along the tops of logs and stop at high points to look out over the landscape. I call it my Disney Wolf-you know how they appear on a cliff one minute, then next they are gone? Mine do that!
When jumping over the logs, they like to put their paws and push off, instead of just jump over.
I have taught them the squirrel or bunny command and they run in the direction I indicate and away they go, leaping over stumps and weaving their way around objects, only stopping at the edge of the valley. Too fun to watch and really good exercise!
My oldest two compete in agility too!
