I got my pup only 6 days ago and she has been with me pretty much all the time. It 's fair to say she's getting comfortable now. However whenever she's left alone she cries. I expected this but last night I tested it out and left her for 2 hours. She was still crying and scratching at the door when I came upstairs to see her. There was music playing downstairs which I know she could hear. But is this usual?

Yes it is quite usual for puppys to cry when left on thier own . Try giving her a toy and a chew and leave her for short periods of time to start with, get her playing with her toy or chewing a chew then come out for 10-15 mins. as she starts to accept this she will get more confident being on her own and when she is good and doesn't cry give her a wee treat, she will soon get to know what to do for a treat. They are smart and learn quick. Good Luck.

Certain breeds in particular have serious problems with anxiety when left alone. The best thing you can do is to crate train the pup and always put the pup in the crate when leaving it alone. The pup will learn that the crate is a safe place and will get comfortable with it. As it gets older, you can introduce more freedoms as its maturity permits.
