I take my dog for a few walks a week right now, it winter and I really cant stand to walk for a hour in -20 weather lol.

Summer/fall/spring I walk him a few times a day, and go on a 3-4 hour hike 2 or 3 times a week.

I take mine to the park twice a day, plus they get the run of the garden all day.

At weekends, it depends as, if we sleep late, they do too! Lazy puppies!!! But yesterday we took them to the beach for instance.

Their ''awake and play time'' is mostly the afternoon. They are definitely not morning dogs!!

That must be nice...my dog is up at the crack of dawn. It's not so bad now in winter because the sun gets up later...but when we got her in August she was nosing me at 6am!

I take Cassie for a walk every day (unless it's *really* cold, last week it was -45 C) and she has 'play dates' on the weekends. Yesterday she came with me to my parents acreage, where we walked for a couple hours. I kept her on the leash, which turned out to be a good decision, as at one point we came across a porcupine sitting in the field eating.

Its very cold outside, and there's snow on the ground right now.

It makes it kind of difficult to go for a walk when the weather isn't so nice.

But there are times I brave it, if its not too bad out....if its really windy and you factor in the wind chill, I don't want to take her...for her sake and mine. All that wind blowing around isn't good for her eyes and ears.

When Spring comes she and I are going to do what we usually do...walking and rollerblading!!! We alternate. She and I get great exercise out of it and have a fun time doing it as well:) So I would say Spring - Fall is when she gets most of her outdoor exercise....

Right now I am training her to walk on a treadmill. Its only been about 3 days, and we do very short sessions, as she is still trying to get used to it. I hope in the weeks to come that she becomes well acclimated to it:)

In the morning and evening we go for a long, long walk around the farm. The rest of the time we spend playing outside in the yard. They have a large fenced in area to play in.

On weekends we spend a lot of the time outside. Like today, it snowed for the first time this winter and we have been in and out all day. One long walk this morning and just playing outside the rest. Its cold though, so we have to come in a warm up! Bruce, my pug, gets cold pretty quick but Katie, shepard mix, could stay out for hours if I let her.

we are still doing short walks (round about 20 minutes long) as we were told by the vet (not too sure how true it is after the diet advice she gave us) not too make her walk for too long in one go as it may damage her joints as she is still growing I don't want to start her off in life with damaged joints that I may have caused.
she goes out for a walk every day and she also has run of the garden during the day.

not really cold here by comparison to others but raining daily now for a week and expected to rain 4 more days at least. Ming is starting to like it because he likes the exercise of course and because when we get home momkat gives him a good drying off which he lies down and relaxes to.

I try to walk him daily. we're late today and he's getting antsy but I overdid yesterday and haven't been able to do much. still - as soon as I wake up a little more from my nap we're going. he can't do more than 20-25 mins. He's a big guy and he gets pretty tired with that amount. Sure loves it though.

Our backyard is .2 acres so they have that plus a large kennek run of about 6 x 9 ft. The weathers crummy right now though so Kira has my room and Charlies allowed loose about twice a day. Amber, since shes hyperactive being a rottie GSD mix gets a 5 minutes run in the street with me about 3 times a day. me, being out of shape, can't do any longer than that at the speed she's going xD

Kira and Charlie also get to go on 5 mile hikes about once a month (amber throws up in the car so we don't bring her) and all 3 get to go camping with us for about 2 weeks each summer.

In the winter, I don't walk my dogs that much, but Lilly gets outside to play 3 times a day and Flip and I are always doing something in the house like playing and stuff. In the summer, fall and spring, they get walked once if not twice a day and a romp in the yard maybe 3 to 4 times a day. I have to walk my dog separte because I just can't handle them together. Lilly weighs 78 lb, and Flip weighs 45 lb. They can really pull and I admit I can not handle them if they see a dog, squirrel, bird, rabbit and cats. They also walk much better alone

I walk Jake 3 hours a day - one walk, usually afternoon. But YEAHHHHH for the first time today we have had snow. So maybe tomorrow we'll not be going to the beach but playing in the snow

We go for a short jog (cleared it with the vet first) three days a week and take walks on alternate days every morning at 5:00AM. My wife usually takes her for a second walk every day in the afternoon, or we walk as a family in the evening after I get home from work. :) Sometimes we'll substitute a walk for 30 to 60 minutes of romping with the neighbor's puppy or spending an hour at the dog park.

All in all Maggie logs about two to three miles a day. But we live in a condo with no place for her to run, so daily exercise is a must.

Does anyone know what is best for a puppy that's almost 3 months old when it comes to walking (and, particularly, walking in 30 degree weather)? I want to walk our Brussels Griffon, but am afraid that it's either too cold or he's too young. It's my first dog. Thanks!

Just my opinion, but a puppy that young doesn't need long walks; what he needs is lots of brief play periods. Typically, puppies are either going 100% or napping. Play can be letting him follow you around the house (although, given how hard they are to housebreak, that may not be an option), or sessions outside, since you have to take him outside so often, anyway. As far as the weather goes, even though he is small, he has a dense coat, so brief play periods in cold weather shouldn't be a problem.

zoey and me go for walks almost everyday, her favorite is to play with her basket ball while we walk (we live on 6 acres), i kick it and she chases it and brings it back. this way she does doble the exercise :) i also try to take her at least everyother day to the dog park. she loves it and sleeps for hours once we get home.

I was walking mine at that age only 15mn if that. Now at 6 months, they get 2 x 1hr in the park, but I increased this gradually.

I adore walking in the wind and rain!
I take the dog down to the oval once a day, except on weekends. (football, etc)
We either go to: Skate park, oval, hockey oval, park.
It depends on the amount of people. :)
He doesn't get walked on Sunday but on Saturday I walk him around the block. Never do we walk when it's the slightest bit hot. We play fetch instead or he just gets free time outside.
