“Forum Director”?
Forum Directors are an essential new addition to DogForum.org. At this time, the Forum Directors will work with the Community Director and admin to monitor the day to day activities of the site and will have a hand in determining the direction the site will grow in the future.

Although we are only looking for one exceptional individual to fill the opening at this time, we will continue to add more Forum Directors as the site continues to grow and thrive. Each Forum Director will be responsible for management of one or more areas of the site.

Your role in the process
We need your help to decide on a list of quality members to consider for this role.

Before you make your nomination(s), please read the following to ensure the person you nominate is right for the job

What it takes to be a Forum Director
- Excellent written communication skills
- Great people skills
- A helping demeanor
- A lifelong passion for everything related to dogs
- Expertise in a wide variety of areas covered by the individual forums on this site
- Perspective, vision, character
- An active presence on the DogForum.org forum (ideally 5+ days per week)
- Patience and persistence
- A thick skin
- Dedication to the site and the love of dogs
- Proactive yet cautious approach

The role of the Forum Director
- To ensure visitors and members have the best experience possible at DogForum.org
- To ensure DogForum.org contains high quality, helpful information
- To uphold the rules/TOS/values of the community
- To stimulate participation and growth
- To be a staple within the community through routine and consistent presence
- To maintain the upkeep and appearance of DogForum.org
- Work with the Community Director and admin on a variety of projects

Pay (or lack thereof)
Officially this is a volunteer (no pay) position. However the new Director will receive:
- A great opportunity to guide elements of a rapidly growing dog enthusiast community
- Other small perks over the course of time http://www.overclock.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Who can be nominated?
- Any member may be nominated
- We encourage people to nominate themselves if they feel they meet the qualifications

How to submit your nominations
- Please submit your nominations VIA PM to me with the title of "Director Nominations"

What to include
1) Who you would like to nominate
2) Why you feel that they are right for the job

Timing
- Request for nominations will end two weeks from today (February 12, 2007)
- Within one week from that point, the new Forum Director will be chosen (February 19, 2007)

We thank everyone in advance for their interest in being a Forum Director. The size and growth of the site require the addition of only one Forum Director at this time. Please do not take offense in any way if you are not selected. This position will be extremely demanding but ultimately very rewarding to the successful candidate. We will definitely be adding more Forum Directors in the future, so there will be more opportunities to take a leadership role in this forum.

You can only nominate one person, right?
You may nominate as many people as you would like (within reason), but only one new Forum Director will be appointed at this time.

I am just curious, but why are we getting a new Forum Director? ( its kinda a stupid question ) Is it that the forum is getting so big or is someone not wanting to do it anymore?

We're just adding to our staff to spread out the workload and to bring some new energy and ideas to the staff. :)

New energy - LOL - guys and girls - I've found the best energy release - Land surfing - a contraption that looks like a go-cart, with a sail which is a huge kite - pulls you along the beat at a good rate of knots (sp?)

Hi Sandy you are right I certainly won't be Land Surfing with Carole I have 5 dogs and that is enough exercise for me unless I could harness them to a cart and they can exercise while I sit back and relax LOL

I think we should start another thread about 'general chit chat' as we are going way off topic and have a good gossip.

I'll start one and the rest can join in.

xD I'd nominate myself 'cept I'm new to the forum, and I'm not sure I have the time at the moment. Therefore, I nominate Jake and Shelby. 'Cause they've always been excellent to me. ;)

Can I ask a question? Can there can be more than one forum director selected at this time? I know of several people that I have spoken with that I think would make terrific canidates.....but they are afraid of the commitment of time( at least 5 days a week). If more than one director is appointed at this time.....maybe 3-4 members ....then the time shouldn't be a concern to anyone....since the directors job isn't a pay position... there shouldn't be any added cost with appointing several...;)
Would you consider the idea of several directors being nominated? Just my idea....:)

At this point in time, we feel the workload only requires the addition of one more Forum Director. As the site continues to grow and the workload increases, we will continue to add to the staff. The workload commitment is an important aspect of the position, and while there are many members who could do a good job with a lesser time commitment, we have nominations for several members who have the time to fill the position as listed.
