A suggestion about helping rescues &/or shelters?

I was sitting here thinking about the future of the animals out there with no homes. I know everyone here at the dogforums are always thinking of new and better ways to help our animals and the animals out there on the streets! So I was wondering if we could start some kind of contest to help animals. I don't know what kind of contest, thats way I would need everyone help to figure this out. But I'm willing to donate $100 + to any of the suggested animal shelters or dog rescues.
I hope everyone understand what I'm getting at......

Lets have some type of contest where everyone can contribute!! I hope the amin. will agree to let this happen. If anyone else agrees to this please reply!

It would be a good idea, but most of us are spread across the world so it may be hard to organize.. I know personally I would like to help out the SPCA in my area as they do great thing and gave me the love of my life - Arty ;o)

I understand that most of the people on here live all across the world. But I personality believe that there are plenty of ways around that. If anyone gives a helping hand the contribute to this suggestion, than I don't see why this couldn't work. ;) But like i said before this is just a suggestion!

I guess maybe if you proposed some ideas on how, people would be better educated on how we can make this work...

I think there may be a lot of little things that don't even cost that much money that make a difference.
One example: I found out that our local shelter always needs old blankets and towels. It doesn't matter if they are stained or torn, they get used as bedding and the animals really trash them anyway. Well there are a lot of people who throw away sheets, towels and blankets because they are no longer "good enough" for them, but they would be great for the animals at the shelter. Just letting people know, or even collecting them (heck, it saves people having to pay to have it hauled away) helps everyone.

Example 2: Old newspapers. I found out last Christmas when I attended at Christmas with the animals that that shelter needs old newspapers to line some og the cages. Well heck, we burn them, so of course I took a bunch up there with me.

I'm sure there are more examples...

This is what I'm thinking..... we should start some type of contest!
Exp.
1. Poem contest
2. Most unique Picture contest
or any other suggestions!!!!

There would be 1st place 2place and 3place!
1st place- $75 ( a shippment of blankets, chew toys, a bag of dog food)
2nd place- $ 50 ( a shippment of blankets and chew toys)
3rd place- $25
*the awards will go to the winner's choose of animal shelter or dog rescue!

And so the contest is fair for everyone, we could do it once every month. (so everyone has a chance to help there shelters or rescue of there choice)

:) The only thing the wonderful people here at the dogforum has to do is participate in the contest. :)

*I would pick two or three people to help me judge the contest and make it fair!:)

Yes, I'm willing to donate once every month to the winners chosen animal cause. I'll be donating Over $150 dollars, blankets, chew toys, and dog food To the WINNERS Shelters and/or rescues!!
