Peeing in crate

Help! We have a 5 & 1/2 month old Bichon/Mini Poodle mix puppy and was neutered about 3 weeks ago. Before the surgery, he was sleeping from 1030pm -6am in his crate in our bedroom w/o peeing, but recently (past 2 weeks straight) he has been having a peeing accident every nite and has been waking up very early, around 430am-5am and has peed by the time I take him out of his crate.
It is really frustrating b/c I feel like he is regressing a little and I am not able to sleep a full night without being worried that I have to clean up pee. Any suggestions on how I can stop the peeing in the crate and help him sleep through the night, at least til about 630am? This is our 1st puppy, so we are def. going thru growing pains right now.:confused:

How big is the crate? >o.o<

Might it also be a urinary track infection?

I really think you should get in contact with your vet with this. The timeframe is too coincidental, he was neutered and has had a problem since. Always worth checking it out just to be sure there's nothing wrong.

The crate is the smallest one you can get. we have even cut off 1/4 of the crate so he can only lay down and turn around in the crate.
I took a sample to the vet for a urine analysis and it turned out that he is does not have any infection. So the vet said it must be a behavioral issue. does anyone have any other suggestions?
I am trying to get him to sleep in the AM longer (meaning so he can hold it longer). he goes to sleep around 1030pm and wakes up at like 530-545. any suggestions to get them to sleep longer? the crate is in our bedroom. thanks.

I think because he is still very young it is hard for him to hold it that long. You are making sure he goes out right before he goes to the crate I assume? But I would suggest maybe getting up once and letting him out, and slowly increase the time as he gets older.
