We rescued o Rough Collie, Misty, at the age of 9 months.
Me and my younger brother were always bugging our parents for a dog, then, one day, i got home from school- to find her sitting there!
Our Misty was bred to be a show dog, but when she was born, se didnt have show dog standards- her ears were straight, they wouldttip, and he paws turned inwards, she is too long, and tall.
Istead of rehoming Misty, they kept her in a small cage, and all he other collies they had, started to pick on Misty.
Whenever the other collies got hyped up, they would let Misty out for them to pick on and beat up, to loose some of their energy.
Misty's case had been reported to local authorities, and she was later advertised as needing a new home- my parents went to collect her the very same day.
When they got to Misty's house, the old owner handed her over on small piece of string for a collar and leash, and no bowls or food or anything- they did say that she had a favourite toy, but we never saw it or got it.
I dont see how people can bring themselves to harm any animal, but we are happy that we managed to get her before anyserious damage was done.
She is still scared of some things, and we dont have explanations for them, but we guess its because of things in her past.
