i understand your frustration which brings me to where i am such advocate for the spay/neuter program that i am sure people wish i would shut up :)
Every hour in the United States, more than 2,000 dogs and 3,500 cats are born, compared to 415 humans. The yearly statistics include more than 17 million dogs and 30 million cats. Add these animals to an existing pet population of 54 million dogs and 56 million cats and the total exceeds one billion!
There is no way to find homes for that many pets... even if every human had one...
i have some very well bred dogs... they are spayed!

you know kelsiebug ... even most of the breeders should not be breeding. if the breeding is done correctly there is little if any profit. breeding should be done for the betterment of the breed. just because an animal is registered doesn't mean it is of quality to be bred. i see so many purebred dogs being bred for the wrong reasons...
i know that it is very hard for us to understand kill shelters...but it is much more humane to euthanize the animal than to let is run the street and risk getting hit by a car, tortured by some inhumane human, or starving to death because it has no home.
you are correct... people need to thing before not taking the responsibility to spay or neuter their pets.
hugs and puppy kisses to you...

Ugh... this reminds me of the other night... see I just got a puppy from a reputable breeder, and he came with a pet/neuter contract because he's not up to standard.
So I'm online talking to a RL friend about my puppy and the convo goes like this:
Him (9:51:52 PM): mom was wondering if you were going to get shippo fixed.. o.O there's lots of money in stud services. ^^;;
Me (9:52:24 PM): LMFAO
Me (9:52:29 PM): yes I'm getting him fixed
Him (9:52:41 PM): awwwwwwwwwww.. o.o
Me (9:52:45 PM): if I don't I get fined and the breeder takes him back >^^;<
Him (9:52:45 PM): but.. but.. o.o
Him (9:52:45 PM): lol
Him (9:53:01 PM): that's ****ing stupid.. o\/o
Me (9:53:13 PM): no it's not
Him (9:53:14 PM): it's YOUR dog.. it's none of the breeder's business if you put YOUR dog out to stud
Me (9:53:19 PM): he's pet quality
Me (9:53:25 PM): I don't feel he should be bred
Him (9:53:28 PM): whassat? o.o
Me (9:53:56 PM): it means that he can't be shown in the ring
Me (9:54:08 PM): he's severely faulted for his coat
Him (9:54:13 PM): what does that have to do wiff him being a stud though? o.O
Me (9:54:17 PM): but I didn't get him for breeding or showing lmao
Him (9:54:25 PM): Stuffy Judge: This puppy's too cute to enter, sorry!
Me (9:54:33 PM): lmfao
Me (9:54:56 PM): If I was going for a show dog that I could breed after he champed, I wouldn't have chosen Shippo
Him (9:55:13 PM): there sure are a lot of screwballs in the animal world. 9.9 you're the only one who makes any sense..
Him (9:55:28 PM): he has to champ first before he can be a stud? o.O
Me (9:55:51 PM): anyway it's in the contract. I understood the contract before I signed, and I fully agree with it... and if I bred him it's a breach of contract
Me (9:56:10 PM): no he wouldn't have to, but no reputable breeder would stud out their dog before it had a title
Him (9:56:20 PM): I still think she doesn't want him bred because she's a control freak and doesn't want you to make any money. 9.9
Me (9:56:50 PM): I didn't get Shippo to make money
Him (9:56:55 PM): I know that. o.o
Him (9:57:15 PM): but there's no harm in selling jugs of milk if you have a cow at home.
Me (9:57:16 PM): ****ty breeders actually make money off of breeding
Me (9:57:44 PM): because they don't finish the dog, they don't health test them, and they don't pay any attenton to who they sell the pups to
Me (9:58:57 PM): once you add up all the fees, vet bills, lab tests, etc. involved in breeding responsibly, there is NO money left over
Me (9:59:13 PM): in fact, most of the good breeders LOSE money on breeding
Him (9:59:14 PM): hmmmm o.o
Him (9:59:38 PM): *learns stuffies from Petz-Master C*
I wonder if he'll EVER understand...
And you will get unkind posts. BYBs stand by their profits VERY aggressively lol...

Yeah. If you're talking about the subject of overbreeding, I get unkind posts about this subject as well... doesn't discourage me from continuing to try and open peoples' eyes.

Nothing unkind will be allowed to stay here. People are welcome to express differing opinions as long as they do it politely.

Cheetah, your friend sounds EXACTLY like my best friend. He doesn't understand any of this kind of stuff. It's so frustrating! And causes so many fights O.o

byb are just that. i want to know why they are breeding their dogs, horses etc? if there is any good reason but money. i have not yet talked to a byb who had a good reason to breed their animal.
i have talked to those who have said their dog is of such good tempeurment... hmm so are many others. i have talked to horse breeders who have a mare that is no longer sound to ride so they are going to retire her to the broodmare line. like we don't have enough horses being shipped off to slaughter now. and yes, many of these horses are young, nice, rideable horses.
a reputable breeder will keep track of their pups and take responsibility for those pups for their entire lives. they should never end up in a shelter and if they do that breeder will do all to get that dog back. i personally know of two such breeders...i have seen one take back a dog that was 10 yrs old.
if you are going to breed animals than you need to breed animals that are not substandard, that fit the breed standard and be responsible for every animal you put on the ground.

i agree with dlambertz.
but do yall agree with the animals being taken to the pound and.......and getting killed!? well they do if they cant find the home.
absolutley i agree with you...it is horrible that our pets are put to sleep because of bad owners, irresponsible owners and over breeders. there is no way we can find home for all the shelter animals until we cut down on the number of litters coming into this world.
