GIG HARBOR, Wash., Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A Washington state dog groomer, who allegedly used Superglue to reattach a shi tzu's ear after cutting it off, may face criminal charges.

Anni Sherrifius of Gig Harbor told KIRO-TV that she only realized how her dog had been mutilated when she tried to wash what appeared to be dirt from its ear. The dog, Jasimine, was treated for an infection resulting from the cut.

The television station said that the dog-grooming company appears to have closed and Pierce County sheriff's investigators are trying to determine what laws might have been broken.

"Once they tried to hide it and glued the ear back on, that's not good for the dog," Detective Ed Troyer told KIRO. "There are all kinds of things that can happen ... It's cruelty to animals."

Ugh! That is so gruesome, what in the world was that groomer thinking...and how experienced could she have been to "cut" that dogs ear off?! That poor dog:(

I thought this MUST be a joke. I mean really how stupid can you be? The ear will not re-attach itself if you glue it.

It always amazes me how stupid some people can be. Admit the mistake and take responsibilty for it. That is the problem in today's society, no one wants to take responibilty for the actions.

My 2 cents.

Ack. I might have to stop reading these things! When Gator's ear was nicked, it was less than a centimeter off the tip, but it required stitches immediately. I cannot believe this person thought they could get away with that. Poor dog!

Man Jan - you find the craziest stories!!! Glad Max has an easy care coat. He'll never have to go to the groomers. I used to take my Maine Coon cat to the groomer because he's long hair. But since I changed his diet to a super-premium brand his coat tangles MUCH less. Now I can manage his few knots - so he won't be going any more either.

This is unfortunate but I can see actually where the groomer might have gotten the idea. A superglue-like glue is used to close small wounds on humans. It's not a new concept. Certainly it didn't belong in this situation but I don't think the groomer meant to be cruel. Deceptive definitely.

I trully agree when this reply.....but if i was the owner I would have wanted the groomer to tell me about the situtation!

I mean come on, I pay you money to groom me dog (safe and harm-free) and leave to bring home my dog that has his ear chopped off! I hope this owner gets justice! I feel that this was poor of the groomer!

This story was on our local news. I thought it was cruel that the groomer did not alert the owner, so the dog could have treatment from a vet.

No doubt! I'd go non-linear. The proper response was to let the owner know, maybe go ahead and make the "patch" until the owner can pick up the dog and get it the vet. And then offer to pay for veterinary costs.

But that's just me. I know mistakes happen but this is one that could have been handled 10X better. And the poor pup. :( Their little ears are so sensitive. Inside and out. :(

I saw that and thought what was that stupid groomer is called one so would do such a thing then glue it back on. Made me sick. I would of went back and probably cut her off also. I have a bad temper. What a trick she thought she/he was getting away with.
