Whatsup people. I just got a dog, I have been told that its an Australian cattle dog mixed with a Lab, but I'm not sure. The vet thought it was a rott, and it kind of looks like a rott to me. Everyone seems to think he is a rott. He has a muscular build and stumpier/wider face that most labs/ACD, so I was wondering what some more experienced dog people thought. He's my first dog, and he's great, his name's Rocky. Pics are from cell phone, nearly impossible to get a good picture cause he's always moving, and the second he moves it blurs the picture.

In the face, I'd say some kind of Lab/Dobe mix ... your last pic "the butt shot" makes me think Rott.

I see ACD and Lab, no Rott.

ACD's can be tri-coloured with the tan markings that look like Dobe/Rott.

:p Ahhhhhhhhhhh, I would have to agree that butt shot could be an ACD.

Ditto on my manners. Welcome! I'm new here too! You'll love the people here ... very helpful & friendly.

He looks a little shnauzer-y in the thumbnails..

I'd say lab crossed with something. :)

For me he looks a bit like a German hunt-terrier.

Hi Suburbandcash and welcome :wave2:
I see some kind of herding dog because of the tipped ears, like Aussie? BUt can you tell us how much he weighs?

Hmm, those markings aren't tan, they are brindle.
I'd guess him as just a heinz shepherd mix. Those markings are gorgeous though, very unique on points like that, and not akin to any Rott, Dobe, Aussie, or ACD I've ever seen! Which is why I had to conclude to a shepherd mix in general, perhaps with some Lab.

I've got two Rottie-mixes. You'll probably never know for sure, as there are a few breeds that have the black and tan markings. Many rottie mixes do have brindling in their tan markings. Looks cute whoever his parents are. :D

Surprised by the number of responses, thanks. Finally found nice people on the internet. Anyways, he's almost 4 months old and weights 26 pounds (I think, somewhere in the mid 20s if not 26). Got some better pictures with a real camera. brunosmom asked if had a curl in his tail, yeah... but not a normal one. He was picked from the litter because of his odd tail, its pretty crooked. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, and I thought it was unique.

Few more pics. Closeup of his tail.

Sticking with shepherd mix, myself.
He has a nice coat, plushier looking in these newer pictures than the first, probably due to quality.

I believe that type of tail is called a corkscrew tail. Don't hold me to that indefinitely though!

Well if he is 26 lbs at four months thaty means he will be about 50 lbs full grown. Kind of on the small side for there to be Rottie in there. I think some kind of terrier plus shepherd, but really not sure.

I still sticking with Rotti mix...but I think there is more than just 2 breeds...maybe as many as 4...I've attached a picture of the curl I was taking about(Bruno at 6 months)....it actually does a total curl sorta like a Spitz but so many people have told me Rotts with tails actually do this....but you probably will never know the combination...yours is a beauty....unique!!!! as mine is too!!!!:) http://www.dogforum.org/gallery/data/500/medium/Scanned_Photo-6.jpeg

Could be a large range of crosses, such as dobe/shepherd, rottie/shepherd, etc etc. I personally don't see much rottie at all though. Looks more like some weird combination of dobe/ACD/shepherd.

I agree with what the breeder told you, I can definately see both ACD and Lab in him, I really don't think he looks like a rotty at all, his muzzle is much too narrow. Best of luck with him!!!

i would say rottie shep cross, but his close up face almost looks like a manchester terrier but those arent that common i would most likely say rottie /shep i used to work at a humane society and lab shep crosses are very common but then again i definaltly see rottie/dobe too . its a hard guess. countryside lisa
