I found out, today, that our second foster Grey, Bella, died suddenly, last night. Her owner said they were riding in their van, when she suddenly gave a few yelps and went down. They went straight to the vet, but by the time they got there, she was gone. From what they described, it sounds to me like she was gone as soon as she went down.
Her racing name was BB's Beach Baby. Our very first foster only stayed with us for 24 hours, so I tend to think of Beach Baby as our first foster Grey, because she was the first to actually stay awhile. She was dark brindle, and had a shortened tail from having "happy tail". She did wag a lot and she loved stuffies. Her parents were Loxahatchee Dash and Ilene Ivey. She had 103 recorded races, at Southland Park, Ft. Myers/Naples, Melbourne, and Shoreline Star. She had 7 firsts and 11 seconds, and placed in the money for most of her races. She wasn't but seven, so she wasn't in retirement very long, but I know her owners are devastated. I got to see her a lot, and I'm going to miss her.
Run with the wind, sweet girl. No one can catch you, now.
