Koko has turned onto treats. :) Before today, if she was offered a treat she wouldn't come near, I think in her former life, treats were probably used as a method to catch her. If Max got one, she sort of thought she might want one, but not badly enough to come closer than two feet.

Bath day today and I brought treats to the grooming table, (groomer told me she never used them so I never tried them before). I used them to work on a down in preparation for getting her to roll to her side so I can brush her belly and under her legs.

By the end of the session she was taking them from my hand, and when we went in to show Grandma how beautiful she was she was actually putting her feet up on my leg to come for the treat!

Silly how something so simple can mean so much!

So good to hear she's coming around & learning what the good life is all about. I find the simplest things are the best things when it comes to our dogs.

Very good news. Small Steps = HUGE gains. ;)

Rescues are not like other dogs, they learn differently, they act different and it can be really hard to get into their heads. With Jenna it took a very long time before she would even play with us, she had a far off distant stare when we tried. She would not get up on furniture ( Bonus eh ? ) but one day something clicked and up she went on the couch, much to my husbands delight and my chagrin. LOL.... she still does not know how to fetch and play with sticks and balls. I find that very sad; she never was played with as a puppy. :(

Take your time thing come gradually as your dog learns to trust again. You are doing an excellent job.
