Hello.
I have a question on 2 types breeds in the Hound Group.
Ibizan Hounds and Pharaoh Hounds. I was planning on purchasing an Ibizan Hound in the near future but I came acroos the Pharaoh Hound as well.

I DO! I DO! Ask me anything about a Pharaoh hound or Ibizan, Theyr are 2 of my fav breeds!

Yes, I adore both breeds as well, I just wanted to know more or less the difference between the 2 and which breed people most reccommend

The breed differs from coat type, where they first originated and what they are used for.
The Ibizan is usually red and white in color.
The pharaoh Hound is usually a deep bronze and white is not desired but permitted on the chest and tips of feet.
The Pharaoh Hound was used in Egypt to hunt game and stuff like that.
The Ibizan.... Um. I think... um. I'm not sure where they come from.:D
But as far as which one to get I say Ibizan. They have more character then a Pharaoh and they bondy to you more. The Pharaoh Hound is more like a cat, it usually thinks of things lazily and wonders whats in it for them.:p
Pharaohs are escape artists and you have to have a VERY secure fence for them. They Jump and dig so you have to protect the bottom of the fence as well as making sure it is high.
Ibizans don't dig to my knowledge, but can jump even higher. They love to run and need to be active. I can expound but thats All I got from my top-of-head knowledge. :cool:

ALSO.... Ibizans come in 2 coat types, smooth and wire-haired.

Oh to die for both of them. We looked at the Pharaoh hounds as well. My understanding is the they are less aloof, but considering I have love bug borzois, I would take either breed in a heart beat.
