I have recently posted a thread about Ibizans vs Pharaohs.
I have another question about 2 other breeds as well:)
What is the difference in temperment between a Siberian and an Alaskan Husky?
Thanks for your time:D

www.siberianhuskypup.com (http://www.siberianhuskypup.com) This is where I got this information from!
Characteristics of the Siberian Husky
The Siberian Husky is a package of energy, requiring at least an hour of supervised daily exercise. If not properly exercised, they can become very mischievious from their pent up energy including digging and chewing. They are lively, curious, love to run, and are independent-minded. Obviously, this is not your ideal apartment pet.
http://www.siberianhuskypup.com/photos/siberian-husky2.jpgDon't buy a Siberian Husky to serve primarily as a guard dog. Siberians are lovers! They want to become friends with everyone, including the burglar. Experts will tell you that they are good with children because of their wonderful temperament.
Siberians require almost constant attention from their masters. Remember that they are by nature "pack animals" and instintively follow the rules of "the pack". Thus you, their master, are the "alpha male or female", the leader. This is why it is so important for new Siberian owners to go through obedience training with their new Siberian Husky pup.
The American Kennel Club, found on the web at www.akc.org, has standards for the various breeds of dogs including the Siberian Husky. Siberians are classified as medium size working dogs. Adult males range from 45 to 60 pounds and females from 35 to 50 pounds. On the AKC website, you will find specific standards for the body, neck, skull, teeth, feet, tail, coat texture, and color. A most interesting standard relates to the eyes. The general public is captivated by the piercing ice-blue eyes often seen in Siberians. This is understandable, however the standard recognizes all colors including brown and green. Even bi-eyed Siberians (each eye a different color) is not uncommon and is acceptable.
http://www.siberianhuskypup.com/photos/siberian-husky3.jpg Siberians may be of any color. Typically, the undercoat is white and the guard coat can be black, grey, red, or sable, from dark to light, in various shades. They can even be solid white or solid black. Colors may change as the dog grows older. Another distinguishing characteristic of Siberians is their mask, which is unique for each dog.
It would not be appropriate if the personality of this breed were not mentioned. Each Siberian has a unique personality which begins to show up at an early age. They have been known to develop unique skills such as turning door knobs, climbing, and "talking". However, the most dominant trait that runs with the breed is their gregariousness toward people. They seem to love everyone.
siberian husky are more beatiful .and they are purebred dogs. :)
alaskan husky are a are not purebred dog, they are a breedmix (cross)
between siberian husky and alaskan malamute.
I own a very beatiful purebred siberian husky girl and she is wolf grey and have wonderful brown eyes ( on both eyes)

Oh, goodness. I've been calling my Alaskan Husky a Siberian Husky mix! I was told that she was an Alaskan and I researched it so I figured they just meant a SH mix. =\ lol
But from what I understand they are pretty much the same thing.. right?

I know! They have the best temperment. I have an Alaskan Husky and she's really good with strangers (sometimes too good. She likes to kiss strangers O.o) and good with other dogs. (She's good with nice dogs, anyway. My sister's Miniature Schnauzer hates her so she isn't too nice to her.)

Just a quick note, may be a little off subject but the address listed above for the husky character information is from a PUPPY MILL !!
They have about 60 dogs, all caged, and several litters at a time. I just saw a dog that was purchased from there. The dog was covered in urine stains, hair was badly matted, teeth were blackish green. It was horrible. Food aggressive and very skitish around people.
The dog has a very good home now and well cared for.

In my opinion does not make sense write Siberian Husky vs Alaskan Husky .
One is a pure breed while the other are mixes made for races. Siberian Huskies have a common standard and you can judge them using that benchmark. Alaskan Huskies can be very different and you can find dogs with different colors, different lenght of legs: their benchmark is not a standard but their curriculum: what kind of races they (or parents in their line of blood) ran, what results they got and so on...
So for AH is still difficult (or impossible) to say what is their common attitude in a family contest.
Coming back to the title of this thread, for me, this is why it doesn't make sense to order them to declare what's the best or the worst breed: one is not a breed ;)

Growing up we had both alaskan malamute and siberian husky dogs. The only real differences that I can see is that the malamute tends to be taller and have shorter fur while the husky is shorter with longer fur other than that I can't tell you that I saw any major differences in temperment or anything else. Both of our dogs used to pull me and my brother around on a sled in winter it was great fun! I love both breeds and would like to own one some day. I almost cried at the shelter that I volunteer at the other day because they had brought in a husky that was absolutely beautifull but she climbs 10ft chain link fences and runs free. This was the 3rd time she had been to the shelter and I badly wanted to bring her home but I do not have a kennel that has a roof and my fences are only about 4ft tall. I hope that someone can take her home I will be checking with the shelter in a couple of weeks to see if she has a home yet.

Oh no no no.
Alaskan Malamutes coat is longer than the sibs. A siberian huskys coat should be short and close to the body, if not then something has gone arye in the breeding. Mals should be well furred.
