my dog Lilly has really dry and cracked pads...alot of time she licks them constantly til there raw...lately she has been limping on her one paw..does anyone else have this problem?...what can i do to help her?....:confused:

Hmm, I've never experienced it, but does she walk on dry/hot pavement or hot sand a lot? I would avoid pavement especially while they heal up. For the mean time, you might try something like Bag Balm (it's made for cow udders originally, but pretty much works on everything dry) to moisturized and sooth her pads.

I would use baby oil or a good quality hand lotion to make them more supple.

Apply a small amount and rub it in and make the dog relax for at least 15 minutes while it soaks in well. Do this everyday until you see a real improvement.

If she's licking at them then put something that tastes nasty on them, tea tree oil is a good one.
If she still won't leave them alone, you could try a Mikki boot on the injured foot (type it into Google and you'll find them)

Tea tree oil can be an excellent topical remedy for many things but it CAN BE FATAL if ingested by the dog.
