How much do you guys in America/canada etc pay for clipping
Just interested
Cookie first clip was £18.85, this included toes nails clipped, shampoo, blow dry full body clip, her ears didnt need plucking!
she looked half her size after treatment, god how her fur has grown already, think she'll need to visit the groomers more than I'll be visiting the hairdressers!!!

I've never had a breed of dog that required clipping but I can tell you that I went to my local Petco to use their "do-it-yourself" dog wash (you get to use all their supplies) & it was $12. It was extremely cold here & I still don't have one of those high velocity dryers so I decided to take him in to give him a good bath.

If you have the groomer do the same wash/dry/brush/clip toenails/clean ears it is $30 without any clipping so the price you paid sounds pretty good to me (especially if it also included a bath).

looking at her after 3 weeks she could do with another clip, think I need to do a short course in dog grooming!
I could clip her as often as I felt I needed to then!

she looks like a shih tzu, what you paid for what they did seems pretty reasonable. a friend of mine would charge at least 2X that. not hard to do yourself, but make sure you cover all the bases, ears, toenails, anal glands pads. there is a reason we pay people to do this stuff!

Iwas thinking about taking a course (10 weeks) at our local college, theres no real qualification at the end but it will enable me to clip cookie myself!

We've never taken any of our dogs to a groomers. If they required it, we simply did it ourselves. My grandmother has a toy poodle, and since she is quite old, it is easier for her to take him to the groomers to have his coat/nails trimmed. I think she pays about $50? Not 100% sure, but I know it is quite a bit nonetheless.
Taking a course on grooming, or checking out some books at your local library, or googling on the internet would provide you with some great "do-it-yourself" techniques/tips/advice :thumb:

Chuy cost about $45 I think it was a couple of weeks ago, but he is still young. Next time it goes up to $60 for the full Wheaten cut.

that seems pretty reasonable to me for cookie. Why dont you try and do it yourself. Invest in some decent clippers and away you go.

Basil's nails grow like hair. Super fast. The more you cut 'em the faster/longer they grow.

The groomers here, well, the ones we take her to, they chagred $40.00

They clipped hre nails, shampooed and conditioned hair coat, which by the way smelled lovely. The gave her coat some kind of oil treatment which made her coat soft and sliky. They gave her a sanatary cut, which is when they trim the hairs in the rear end. And the blowed dryed and fluffed her coat as well:D

It was a pretty good price!

I clipped my schnauzer and took care of her ears, and took her to the groomer for every 3rd clip, until it became to stressful because of her diabetes. Then I trimmed her over a period of a couple of days. It wasn't hard but then it was pretty much a straight clipper job. I am working clipping the Shih Tzu's feet and keeping their ears cleaned and nails trimmed but am not brave enough to go further right now.

My area can vary wildly in just a 40 miles radius. From 50-55 for a large dog to over a 100 dollars!

I only have one dog who needs to be clipped, which is Mufasa. The only part of him that is clipped is the fur between his paws and I do it myself. :)
