I thought I'd show everybody what I was doing before adding another dog to my life. I quit breeding & showing several years ago, but I still like to show them off now & then.

Thanks so much! They are all Birmans ... the first one is a Seal Point, the rest are Blue Points.

my mom has a cat very similar to them, but he is a mixed, we always though he was a siamese/himalayan mix, but he may just have some birman in him too.... his name is willow.
what do you think?

Oh my goodness! That's a beautiful pic! They look so sweet together. Does your cat have white paws? If so, the rest of him looks very much like a Blue Point Birman and I'd start to wonder if he really is a mix. I wouldn't guess Siamese (which has totally different body, coat & head structure) or Himalayan (which is a color of Persian & has a totally different head & coat type too).

If your cat doesn't have any white on its paws, it very well may be a Ragdoll instead.

Sabledog
03-04-2007, 02:28 PM
we thought ragdoll as well but though ragdoll was the darker brown coloring, he has 2 white paws (the back ones) we found him on the roadside as a tiny 8 week old kitten so we just assumed he was a mix, he lives with my mom in maine but i was the one who found him and brought him home. she has another who looks alot like him but much bigger and the darker colored markings and his name is rascal, the dog in the pic, max the moose is a huge dog it should give a good size comparison, he weighs 140 lbs so the cat is fairly large.

this is rascal he looks alot like willow but darker in markings...

I love that grey (blue) colour cats can be:D

KatzNK9

LOL ... if adding beautiful photos to this thread is hijacking ... then, hijack away! I love pics of gorgeous critters!

I'm going to make an educated guess that is a Birman. Ragdolls (also possible) also come in the mitted variety & the same colors as Birmans & they were originally a cross between a Birman & Persian.

Looks like your "Birman" might be the blue lynx point in the 2nd pic. The first pic looked more like a blue point. I'd have to see a "full-on" shot or two to make that determination as it could just be lighting that gave me the lynx impression in the 2nd photo.

OMG (OK ... I'm editing now ... LOL), those are two cats. I was thinking that there must have been a big time difference in when those 2 pics were taken. Silly me ... OK ... first cat if it has white feet is a Blue Point Birman ... 2nd cat is Blue Lynx Point.

I'm going to go out on a limb & say purebred Birman.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments about some of the loves of my life. I know this is a dog forum, but it appears there are quite a few cat lovers here too. Glad there's an "Other Pets" board here too.

LOL, thank you! I quit breeding (long, bad divorce story) several years ago & kept my spays & neuters. Sadly, I've lost all but one due to old age but hope to have a few more cats soon.

My breeding cats were sent to my partners (my very best friends in the whole world coincidentally so I see them often) to continue in their breeding programs (including the girl you've "chosen" above) as there was no reason for them to not contribute to the breed even if I couldn't do it myself. I had to move to a house that was 1/3 the size of the one I had while I was breeding & didn't have the facilities to continue breeding.

:) Thank you! As you can tell, I'm a little more than the normal "proud Momma" as far as my cats (and dog) are concerned. Of the many loves of my life, only a couple have been human & I'd go to the ends of the earth for my critters.

Love them! I have four cats, all rescues, so no purebreds. Your cats are absolutely gorgeous! I started out life as a cat lover, wasn't until 10 years ago when my family adopted Gino that I took to dogs.

I especially enjoy the bright pink background picture, makes those blue eyes pop! If you get more cats would you get birmans again?

Thank you! Yes, I would absolutely have Birmans (I still have one 13 year old) & plan to get a couple/few more very soon (well, as soon as Ozzy is a little more grown up). I can't wait as I'm used to having a houseful.

Thanks for the kind words everybody. As you can likely see, I am very proud of the cats I've bred/showed. I miss having kittens around the house & traveling to shows.

G&H, your kitten & dog are adorable. Thanks for sharing that pic. Most of my cats are gone too. I lost 3 of my oldsters last year, one month after another. I still have one with me who is now 13 & hope to add another one or two very soon.
