I personally don't like it....it's just another designer "look alike" dog.....husky X german shepherd....:(

Why would you want be breed or raise wolves? Beyond my thinking as they are wild and should remain just that. I do not think wild animals should be taken in and try to tame and breed them, it is just not common sense to me, so sorry.

It's illegal to own any 'dog' that has any percentage of wolf in it unless you have a Dangerous Wild Animal Licence which means that the 'dogs' would have to be permenantly caged.

Shep we are talking about dog. This breed is a dog breed built (in 1955) as everyother breed for a goal. In this case, their goal was to have a borders guard so they tryied to join the intelligence of a working german shepperd and the strenghtness of wolf: they need a dog able walk under extreme condition for 100 kms or more...
Now, who's got these dogs (me, for example ;)) loves wolves first of all and DON'T WANT breed or raise wolves! I garantee. Just because i love them i think that they have to live free in the wild.
Bruno are you talking about all the people who "invented" a dog? Following your line nobody would have a dog today. Think about it.
For any further information about the history of this breed you can check this out:
http://www.wolfdog.org/eng/44.html
I repeat: We are NOT talking about hybrid, we are talking about dog! They are called wolfdog but they are dogs. That's it.
Even with my "not perfect" English I hope to have clarified something on this argument :)
See ya,
Stefano

I have Utonagan, which come from the same original lines as NI. There is no wolf content in our dogs. They are purely dogs bred from dogs. The original breeds used were Alaskan malamute, Siberian Husky and German Shepherd. I think people use the term 'wolfdog' to perhaps make their dog seem that bit more unusual and tougher. I can assure you my dogs are not tough, although they may try to lick someone to death lol :D
