View Full Version : Pekingese
Anyone else out there a Peke lover?
I have one that's just turned one year old. He's the strangest dog I have ever known. His personality changes so drastically from one moment to the next. He's sweet and cuddly, a trickster, a monster, mischivious and loveable all at the same time.
A wonderful breed that I would recommend for apartment life - a true character and a dog with spunk, but be careful, they do need a lot of love and can become depressed if left alone too long. Ours benefits from having another dog in the house.

I`m not all that into Pekingese or any small dogs, but my boyfriend has one. His dog is 11 or 12 years old now, and I`m searching for a female for him so we can keep the family going...

I'm a big dog fan too but when I was a kid our neighbor had a Peke named Ming who was an awesome dog. All of the houses on our street had 1 acre lots & nobody had fences. She had "her turf" and "her kids" which consisted of a stretch of 5 houses in a row. She made her rounds to all of us ... come to think of it, she eventually became a fat little thing because we all spoiled her rotten.
She was always getting into our kid games & loved to chase us when we'd race our go-carts in the back yards. We made a huge track that went around all five yards. LOL, she just thought she was fast ... luckily, she couldn't keep up so she was able to stay safe ... still, she loved the game of chase at the start of each race though.

funny an ironic twist to me first of all i love all dogs ive alwasy been dog crazy now as a child i grew up an on my street lived the meanest chihuaua i ever met and a real mean set of germa sheperds these dogs would chase me on my bike one bit me 3 time s but loving dogs i still alwasy loved the shepherd no matter what. and the chihuahua, years later when i was 16 igot my first chi and was hooked since ive also owned 3 sheps i love , ive had dobes, sheltie, collie, snauzer .labs, papillons poms, poodles, border collie aussies . you see i used to work as a rescue worker so i ended up with lots of dogs but i also love beind a foster mom often i find homes for dogs so far my newest breed is the husky and im hooked. but i still love my little buggers too. i cant not help it im a dog lover no matter what breed i love them all. especially crosses., tee heee

My dog that I just adopted is half pekingese. She is a pekingese/maltese mix. I would never have considered myself a fan of the breed until now. She is the second dog I've had. Here's a pic:
