Hi

Eunice come on - tell us the news, what happened?

I saw the Irish Wolfhounds on Crufts - what majestic beasts.

I've decided my favourite is the portugese water dog - what do others think who've seen Crufts on TV?

I'm still mad that it wasn't on TV here! I too have been wondering how things were going at Crufts & am looking forward to hearing all the news.

Saturday 10th of March: Terrier & Hound

Ch Travella Show Stopper
Fox Terrier (Wire) Ch Travella Show Stopper, owned by S. Browne-Cole and W. P Allen, was chosen as best of the Terrier group on Saturday evening.

Bloodhound Ch Marksbury Wistful, owned by Mrs S. M Emrys-Jones, was chosen as best of the Hound group.

Both dogs go forward to Sunday’s Best in Show final.

The foxhound is a lovely dog and really was having the time of his life.

the bloodhound - well - LOL - he just took everything in his stride - when he was called out his owner nearly fell over as she was so surprised.

Anyway more news - Julian Clarey is hosting a TV show every week with different celebrities for Dogs Trust. They are showing the dogs - sticky ones etc., and appealing for someone to adopt. If you look around teh BBC website it will have details

Oh I couldn't agree more! I am scanning channels looking for it. I thought it was going to be broadcast tonight. Have not found it yet..
You all are so lucky to be able to see all the breeds one by one. We only get to see the groups.
*** All waiting with baited breath for sure! ***

Try the internet if you want to see it. I'm sure it'll be on somewhere. I was furious when Westminster wasn't on TV here, but then I found it on their website about 5 minutes after the breed was done. They took a while to load, though....

Borzoi mad went to crufts? Like was IN crufts, or went? That must be so exciting!!! Anyways... I hope upon return we'll get lots of sighthound and borzoi pics. :D :D :D

Hi I got back last night at about 10.00pm . I ams still shattered. We got flung out, so no surprise there. Think if it had been a lady handling instead of my O/h we might have got something as the Judge seemed to be a bit of a Ladies Man But we still brought home the two best dogs. as far as we are concerned. For some reason I can't get the pics to upload, but as I say I am still shattered . - getting too old for all this I think. I shall try later in the week and perhaps manage something then. Also only one of my camera's worked, so I don't have many pictures. Apologies I am so disappointed about this as I was looking forward to sharing them with you all. I am going to bed now and hopefully by Wednesday/Thursday I will be back to feeling that I belong in this world and eperhaps I can get some of the pics uploaded, though I warn you they are all of Borzois didn't get a chance to go to the other breed rings, as time flew by and I had some shopping I just had to do[sure all you Ladies understand this]

Welcome back!
Its so hard to hope, then have it change. However- we both know- our numbers are so low, that if there is a breed they cut- we are the ones! Just to have the chance to show is a great honor.

Hi Folks Thanks for the welcome back. I will try to post a few Borzoi pictures of dogs in the ring at Criuts. Unfortunately none of my boys, as the other camera with which I took them I discovered when I got home had not worked sorry folks.

Borzoi mad, thank you for sharing your Borzoi photos! Borzoimom introduced me to the Borzoi breed and has taught me what I know. I was in St. Petersburg, Russia with a church team in 1998, so I can picture the palace of Peter the Great with elegant, regal Borzoi dogs!

Russia is one Country I would love to visit, only because the borzoi comes from there. I often wonder how such an aritocratic breed, can settle in such a little place as mine when they came from large Palaces and lived very elegant lives in their native Russia, but I sincerely hope that my love for this beautiful breeed has contributed somewhat to this.:) :)

Borzoi mad- isn't it awful to think these elegant dogs were so associated with the Tsars that in the uprising, they were killed because of this?? The Borzois total regel appearance and temperment almost cost the breed into extinction. ( just boggles the mind...:kookoo: )

Yes Borzoimom I agree it is very sad that this happened and the breed was almost wiped out, in fact at one point if you were not of the nobility in Russia you were not allowed to own a Borzoi and the Penalty was death.

It iwas a bit like during the second world war dachshunds in Britain had stones flung at them in the streets because they were a german breed and people had to take them into hiding so that the breed in the UK could continue . So sad.

Eunice - I had a dream last night. It was so surreal! I was making coats (well we know why I'm dreaming that) for borzoi's. They were dark red (claret) with gold piping and they looked similar to the old fashioned turn of the century military coats! I woke up and thought, must tell Eunice, forgot and just remembered again -

must be the dihydrocodeine !!

Carole Hope the pain is easing and you can soon come off these drugs. ( or you get word soon that they can operate on your knee] Borzois are one breed who def. don't need coats as they are a breed who like the cold and much as Claret with gold piping sounds lovely, I think it is beneath them to wear a coat. Maybe its the tv and the recent Joseph and his technicoloured Dream coat that made you have the dream. Hope your o/h (its Adrian I think) is recovered from his fall on his elbow whilst rushoig to your aid whilst you shouted out watching the Underdog. Could it be tooo much TV Lol.
Seriously you are doing a great job knitting these coats for charity .
