Hi & welcome!

I can't think of any Iams dog food commericals. I can picture a couple of cat food commericals but none for dogs are coming to mind.

Can you describe this dog further? Size, shape, body structure, hair type?

I'm not sure what dog food commercial it was that I saw...and I don't think there are many Iams commercials on t.v. But if it is a really furry dog, with a mix of colors, and pointed ears...with blue eyes?? It is an Australian Shepherd.
If you describe the dog your seeing further, we can make a better guess :)

Welcome to DogForum.org. :)

I am assuming they are Weimeraimers. They have short coats and are built sleek and muscluar ?

They are a lovely breed. I had one as my very first dog when I was a kid. Awesome dog!

Thank you i would never have found the name otherwise

I have been searching for ages for the name! Does anyone know if they are good to train?

I grew up with dogs but mainly terriers and mixed breeds and dont want a giddy dog!

Weimaraners are sporting dogs. Do you like to hike in the woods? Cause you better if you get one of these! They were bred to help the German foresters. They hunt, retrieve, swim sniff out poachers. They have a high demand for exercise.
There is a cool "Is a Wime right for you?" quiz here:

Weimeraners are...well goofy. They can be hard headed, stubborn, and just downright clowns. They are not without a heap of potential health problems, either. But they are great dogs if you can provide them with the excercise they need.

As long as you've got plenty of energy & time to train, they make excellent dogs. These dogs aren't happy unless they get out in the world & have tons of time to run, romp, hunt, swim ... lots & lots & lots of exercise. I love this breed & they're high on my list of dogs to consider when picking a breed.

I grew up with Weims - on a 400 acre farm. They need plenty of room to roam, and they will roam most of the day, if allowed. They need that much exercise to be happy and quiet in the evening and on rainy days. They also enjoy swimming and playing in just about any available water. They are very intelligent, and very willful. They are also devoted companions.
