we have inherited!!!!!! a puppy, it looks like a black labrador with husky blue eyes, we know nothing of her history but the vet says it's a lab/husky cross (mainly black lab) does anyone know ANYTHING about these dogs, she seems to have a lovely temprement and is quite boisterous, but then again she is a puppy:) we would appreciate any info about anything, ie: diet, training, exercise etc

Hi & welcome to the forum. Great to have you with us. I would love to see pics of your new baby. Please post some if you can. How old is your new pup?

You've got a mix of two high-energy dogs there so your pup will need lots of exercise. I suggest you enroll in a puppy obedience class which will help you socialize your pup & train him to do a few basic skills. After that, I'd move on to regular obedience training.

Good luck with your new pup & I hope you'll post some pics so we can see your new family member.

If she's 8 months old, then I'd take her to a regular obedience class. I'd look for good dog clubs in your area to see what they have available.

Welcome to the forums! Katz is right, your puppy is crossed with two high energy breeds. Your puppy will need lots of exercise, and training. Trust me, classes will help, I have 3 labs and 2 huskies myself, and the energy level is unreal!! Hope you get pics soon, can't wait to see your little puppy! ;)

Not only are they high-energy, but endurance breeds used to long days on the go. You've got your work cut out for you. I bet those blue eyes are stunning! Congrats on your pup.

Hi Judi and http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q108/2dogmom_album/crittergraphics/whitedogwelcome.gif
There is a myth that if a dog has blue eyes it must be part Husky (or sometimes Border Collie). The fact is that ANY breed can have blue eyes, although it is more frequent in some breeds than in others. So I would not be too quick to believe the vet on this.
Anyway to upload the pictures, use "manage attachments" "browse" "upload" and then close the popup window. You will not be able to see the attachment until you actually post.

She is very pretty. She looks like a Lab/Border Collie cross my husband had a few years back. Those would also be high energy dogs.
Sorry to hear about your surgery and I hope you recover soon!

This would be the best start for you new pup. Good luck and enjoy.

The only diet advice I have is that Canidae kibble has given us excellent results with our dog.

If you want to feed a raw diet, others can advise you.

Wishing you a quick recovery.
