:) Hi! I am using Nutrence large puppy right now, Coda is 22 weeks old Doberman. This is the food the Breeder had her on. I was just wondering if anyone has used Nutro and what you thought of it. Thanks

I do not use Nutro myself I mainly feed BARF but I do sometimes give a lil bit of Autarky which is very similar to Nutro. As far as complete petfoods go Nutro is one of the best, it uses much more natural ingredients than a lot of other complete petfoods. My sisters dog is on Nutro & he looks great on it. If your planning on keeping her on a complete dog food then I'd say stick with that one if its not causing her any problems.

I used Nutro before and I decided to switch to Canidae. Menadione, poultry Fat, and the general graininess of Nutro are what lead me away from it.

^ Same here. Only I was feeding the Ultra, which I found out got something extra special added into the fish before shipment - Ethoxyquin... Yuck! I switched to Canidae the day after I found out lol...

I had Zoe on Nutro's Natural Choice - Chicken and Rice. But it just made her sensitive stomache worse. So I put her on Eagle Pack and it's perfect. So though it's a good brand, it's not necessarily good for every dog.

With Nutro, you pretty much pay a high quality price for a mediocre dog food. I personally paid quite a bit more for Nutro than I did for Innova.
If you'd like to learn more about pet food labels/ingredients you can check out http://www.dogfoodproject.com and I think that http://www.dogwise.com also has good nutritional information.
I've fed three foods to Maddi: Nutro NC LB puppy, Innova, and EP Holistic Fish. Of the three, the Nutro did the least for her coat and health wise; she also would skip 2-3 meals... and this was as a growing puppy and when I added some extra flavor!
Some foods that are highly recommended are:
Innova and Innova Evo (Evo can't be fed to LB puppies!)
Canidae
Eagle Pack Holistic
Natural Balance
Blue Buffalo
Solid Gold
Timber Wolf Organics
I know there's plenty more, but those are the ones popping into my head ATM.

:) Thanks everyone. Thanks Becky for the great links. I haven't decided What to do yet. She has been doing okay on here food. Here stools are just a little on the loose side now. It has been this way for the last month. Vet says she is healthy. It could just be because she has been so active too. Will wait abit and see. I 'm also going to talk to her breeder she is a great wealth of info. lol

My last Springer Spaniel did quite well on Nutro Natural. My cats also eat Nutro Natural food. I'll be feeding my up-coming pup a different brand though. After talking to various Silken Windhound breeders, my short list of brands is:
Canidae
Natural Balance
Nature's Select
*Nature's Variety
*Solid Gold
*Wellness
*These are not available in my town, I'd have to order them on-line. It will mainly depend on what the breeder of my pup recommends.
