Hi i was wondering if there are any peke lovers here, i recently adopted a 5 month old peke, and was wondering how easy / hard they are to train. JT is not yet house broken, ( frustrated old owners) and i was wondering if there was a very easy way of training him. I also hear they are a very strong breed, what i mean is, if they get into a fight or are challenged they wont back down usually. I have noticed this in JT already, and wa wnering if its something i should try to get a handle on right now, or if i should just let him be ( fight between him and a 5 year old shiba only growling and snapping, no physical contact). The last thing i would like to know is, is there a good brush for this type of breed, I have asked ina few pet stores about combs and brushes bu they seem clueless about it, i would like to get him used to brushing and paw handling asap. thanks for any help you can give me

Congrats on the new addition to your family! I would just take him out on a timed schedule based on what he eats & drinks giving him the opportunity to succeed & then praising for a job well done.
I would intercede when there is growling & snapping. Make it well-known that you will not tolerate that behavior. If left to escalate, it could become physical & then you'll have a much more difficult behavior to retrain.
We need to see pics! Please post some when you have a chance!

Hi Miyuki,
I have a peke/maltese mix, so a half-peke! She definitely does not back down when another dog barks/growls/etc, so I've noticed that behavior.
I don't know about the brush, as Giana's coat is a mix of both breeds and is very easily brushed out. Can't wait to see some pics of your baby!

Congrats on your new addition! I can't help you as I have no experience in caring for small breeds. :)
