After all we did to help him, he was just too far gone, we took him last night to have him put to sleep. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts, run free Simon.

Oh dear Lord- I am so sorry for your loss.. Run on Simon...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

he is in a better place now, he didnt even look like a dog anymore, it was really hard on my brother when he walked into the emergency clinic with him as all the people in there looked at him like he was abused and neglected, there were a feww people that said Ohh my god!! and ohhh look at that, but we know that he was not abused nor neglected but loved dearly and we did everything to make him over come his problems, but in the end there was just too much wrong. he only had a few patches of hair, scabs all over his body from digging at himself, and about 30 lbs underweight. We think that thefinal diagnosis was a ruined stomach from all the high dose antibiotics along with liver failure and another bacterial infection sealed his fate, coupled with his food alergies, and his heriditary mange it was all too much for his body to handle.

thank you all for the kind words, i know he wanst technically my dog but i cared for him many times and he lived with me for a few months while my brother got his life together, but he was like family to me, and my dogs loved him too, my brother has decided not to get another shepherd for now, and they are going to wait a little while before they get another dog, his wife is not a dog person like we are but she loved simon.they want to get a rescue dog for their next one because my brother cant stand the though of getting another purebred for fear of this happening again.

Aww sweetie, I am so sorry to hear about Simon. Your heart can rest well knowing that you gave it your best, and so did Simon. In time your brother and his wife will find life to unbearable without a dog, that's what happened to me.
