If he wins BIS, there wont be any pictures- I would have fainted!!! lol ( But yes- we are planing on getting a current show picture. I love the one with one of the judges, because of the grin on the judges face- that one is my favorite- but its time for one more up to date. He has really changed since then..)

Don't keep us in suspense. How did it go for Zubin at the show today?

borzoimom
04-06-2007, 11:09 PM
I had to take Galina down the other direction. No show today. I am disappointed but this has to take place with months in planning for her breeding.
I could not get to the show and have him covered to stay over night. ..( ie fridaynight to saturday night was the problem) . Vagreys offered to take him, thursday to friday but we were not able to make sure he could stay with my handler friday night to saturday.. I never did that before- but we all tried. Where Galina has to go, then Zubin to go is on the opposite sides in mileage from each other- and traffic is really bad on the two seperate places.
Zubin goes tomorrow ... He looks great! Go Zubee ... GO! With all the money invested in this breeding already- she took priority... His class is at 10:45 so put Zubee- dooos IN PRAYERS.. He looks great!

:swearing: Got a dusting of snow last night- no big deal.. Drove to the show- CANCELLED!!! So- Zubin got to get out of the van, do his business, back in the van, and them home. One of the ladies I saw had two smaller males ( in open... arghhhhhhhhh.... ) and she said she did check the AKC site that morning, and no word it was cancelled. I just looked when I got home, and its listed- but not a time they posted it... There wasnt enough to cover the grass, and the grounds looked great.. I AM MAD I COULD JUST SPIT! ....

04-07-2007, 01:18 PM
I can not believe that one! I have been to shows before with light snow- as long as the rings are clear and the roads- they do it.. I have been at shows with driving hard rain- high winds- blowing the you know what out of the tents- the show goes on..

So sorry to hear this Borzoimom, if that was the case in this country every show or at least most of them seuld be cancelled LOL. The weather here has been sunny and dry but still very chilly and we have the Hound Association of Scotland Championship show next wee, and are crossing finger toes and everything else that the weather stays nice, They won't cancel it though even of it doesn;'t but as you know it is no joke having groomed bathed and got them all ready only to have them up to their knees in muddy grass and fithy before you get in the ring.

Sorry again for what has happened but yesterday the mum to be had to come first and then for the show roday to be cancelled just beggars belief.

04-07-2007, 01:35 PM
A friend just called me that was also supposed to show there today. She said that since they put in a snow advisory last night it probably why.. I told her the weather men are more wrong than right- they should have waited IF they DID cancel it last night. She said it was so little, she did not even think to check herself.

That's amazing! Were they in the process of dismantling the show grounds? If not, the show is possibly just postponed and will probably be held later today or tomorrow. I can't imagine them tearing it down and then redoing it at a later date for just one show.

Imagine the number of people who are affected and and the costs and loss of revenue involved in cancelling a show at the last minute! Unbelievable!

Oh applesmom- I am just sick!! The sign said " cancelled- " and no update is listed on the akc home page of cancelled events for a reschedule.. Having that many borzois at a show is almost unheard of- unless its a speciality- even then- its still alot! I hope they reschedule it- but no word yet. ( I keep checking the akc site every 5 minutes.. lol.. There was so little snow, zubin barely even got his paws wet in the high grass to go potty! I could not even get a book so see who would have been there.. They had the ring areas roped off so you could not see how much was taken down.. I hope you are right!

If the sign said cancelled that means it isn't going to take place at all. That club and the superintendent are going to take a lot of flack from this decision.

Yea the sign said cancelled.. We always have weather issues on the east coast- I fail to see why it was necessary to do so..

borzoimom
04-07-2007, 11:06 PM
yea I did- but they are not very good.. Our camera is not as clear as yours.. but he shows well.. The one he was doing the borzoi " huff" like a bear "chaf" they puff their cheeks and open their mouth.. These pictures do not do him justice- his skirt is down on the hock, and doesn't show his pretty chest hairs, or even how long the irredescent rib coat looks. He has a very silky coat..and he was too close to my husband so his neck is too upright as he really wanted that cookie.. lol..

borzoimom
04-10-2007, 12:55 PM

Borzoimom, where is the May show, is it a long drive for you? Also - I love the Borzoi portrait on the wall in one of the photos! I still think you should be in House Beautiful.

Things learned from Borzoimom’s dogs

You can say a lot without ever making a sound.
It’s okay to show both your serious and your playful side.
Life is too short to be lived without enthusiasm.

The Borzoi belongs to the Hound Group in the AKC. A Borzoi is a sight hound.
The Borzoi used to be called the Russian Wolf Hound.
They are very intelligent and also graceful.
This is not a fragile dog (though it might look that way)... remember the encounter between Femka and the bear.
A Borzoi should never be permitted to run without the appropriate leash.
The coat can be straight or it might be wavy. It does require coat care.
The Borzoi is increasing in popularity as measured by the number of registrations.
You might think a Borzoi mom's litter should be small because of her fine bone structure, but that is not necessarily the case. There is a tough cookie under the delicate exterior!
