Hi all!

I had a question about leashes and harnesses. Some people prefer harnesses over leashes and vice versa. I've never really used a harness before, just leashes. I was wondering what everyone here prefers....?

Thanks!

I like a nice six foot lead for general purpose... I guess it depends on what I'm doing which tool I use. *Shrug*

I use a 4 foot lead. Harnesses don't give you adequate control over a dog...they should only be used if you are engaging in an activity in which you want your dog to pull you, ex. being, if you roller blade with your dog...otherwise, if you have a dog that pulls when you walk, it won't deter them from pulling.

I use a flat nylon collar and nylon lead (a "rolled" version, not flat) when I walk and roller blade with Shelby.

I also have a retractable lead, but don't use that anymore when I walk with her...a short lead is better:)

I'm definitely ANTI-harness ... they do nothing for control of your dog & are of no assistance in training.

Harnesses teach dogs to pull. I only use them on hikes becuase I can have her in front of me + control, but she knows how to heel ona lead. I'd say definitly train your dog befor using one.
