View Full Version : Rowdy is no more
A tragedy that could have been avoided had I followed my own advice. Hopefully others will educate themselves on the dangers of NSAID's and not have to go through the pain that Rowdy and our family suffered this past week.

I am very very sorry to hear that. We try so hard to do the best by our pets and sometimes as humans we do not understand the dangers.

So sorry you have lost Rowdy. We all do our best, and sometimes have to weigh the risks against the dog's suffering. He knows you love him.
I am so sorry for your loss :(

Sweetie, I am so terribly sorry to hear of your loss. I cannot believe how courageous you have been in the short time since his passing, and your website is amazing and so very informational. You should include a way for people who come across your website to contact you in case they have similar stories. Despite your loss, your advocacy makes you a hero to others who will hopefully escape a similar fate thanks to your efforts.

Thank you for your kind words and to all who wrote in sharing comforting thoughts. It is said that when a loved one passes away, there are stages of grief one has to go through before healing. I am in the anger stage. Angry at myself for not doing what I have always advocated others do, that is, do your homework when given any prescription drug. Angry for believing that all vets are college educated about the dangers of drugs, they are not. The little information received comes from the drug companies themselves who, like big corporations releasing a business report, maximize the potential while minimizing the negative. Remember Proheart 6 injectable heartworm medicine? It was the first known 'popular' drug pulled from the market after the number of dog deaths became too obvious to ignore. I am angry at the whole situation and resultant stress it places on my every day activities.
I will put a contact address on Rowdy's webpage and thank you for the suggestion. The healing will be complete when we all take a pro-active course regarding our animal's health and not rely strictly on even what our trusted vet tells us.
Again, thanks for your thoughts and may your animals enjoy the best of health!
