I think most dog owners who use commercial products use the monthly topical products like Frontline, Advantage, or Advantix instead of sprays, shampoos and dips. I've used all three with good success. Others will take a more natural approach.

I use on my 7 Shepherds two Garlic, Bug Off wafers daily. I have never seen a flea or tick on my dogs or puppies. Garlic they hate to bite into and hang around, so give it a try at springtimeinc.com or sprinkle garlic after dipping the dog to rid of fleas and keep them off. The commercial flea meds are so hard on dogs they get so many chemicals put into them it is slowly causing cancers, tumors, kidney failure etc. So less is best. Also Apple Cider Vinegar pure is a good flea control of one tbsp daily in water or feed and can also make a spray from bottle of half water and vinegar, must be apple cider however to work. It is safe for humans and dogs, birds, etc.

I'm not a fan of flea dips for dogs (and absolutely NOT EVER in cats) as they are very strong chemicals to be putting directly on your dog. They leave very little protection beyond the initial treatment. My personal suggestion is that you decide between either one of the products I've mentioned or the more natural preventive approach like Sheplover described.

You Said You Couldn't Find Anything And You Want To Nip The Problem Before It Starts. I Would Suggest That You Get A Flea Comb And Look For Eggs, If You Still Don't Find Anything, It May Not Be Fleas At All. It Could Be From Allergies, Anything Ranging From The Food He's On, Or Common Household Allergies. Is He Around Smokers? Could Be That, Or Even A Food Allergy. If He Sleeps With You, Have You Changed Your Brand Of Soap You Wash Your Clothes In? I'm Just Saying, Itching Isn't Always From Fleas And You Might Want To Expand On Your Investigation.
God Bless And Best Of Luck!!

No honey you feed it Garlic wafers daily to get inside as fleas n ticks I have never seen on my 7 or puppies born they will not hang around and feed on your pet. They might jump on but jump back off. Bug Off is what I use and get it at springtimeinc.com and it works trust me sweetie. I also Hot Lime my acreas every spring to get those nats that bite at evening when u want to sit outside on the swing and eggs and any live in the ground all winter, they are gone. We have NO FLIES, NO bugs here at all, dogs have it made.:D

Hi...Sorry to hear about the damned fleas etc.
I take the natural approach and use Danex24 which of course is natural and also good for skin, coat etc. I have 2 American Cockers and yes a lot of fur menas a lot of hiding places for these little things. Well Danex24 is like taking away the food and the fleas will disappear. The scratching will also go..in my case around 4 days. Hope you have it sorted soon.

I forgot to say that Frontline can kill fleas on some dogs and cats without too many side effects short term. Try and read about Fibronil (Ingredient in Frontline) and you may not be interested in using this route. My old Rheena ran off when she saw the pack so........
Frontline may solve some problems but can also have side effects such as dry skin, coat looses its shine, liver and kidney damage, discolouring of coat etc.
Many of my friends have moved away from .....one was a gardener into organic food etc she suddenly realized that while she was healthy herself she kept giving chemicals to her dog. Anyway there is loght at the end of the tunnel.
