So we went out geocaching in our area today (let me tell you just how much fun it was!!!) and Tikaani obviously went w/ us. It was just a short hike from our apartments to 2 very close caches and since we were a ways away from the apt's we just let her off the leash b/c it was too difficult to hike in that particular terrain w/ her on a leash. And I trust her now more. We had no problems, in fact, she was even more well behaved off the leash and away from home than she is otherwise. She comes when called now, and though right at first when we let her off she wanted to run off and do her own thing, once she realized we weren't going to chase her, she stayed right close to us. (maybe a fear of being left??) either way, she was so cute the whole time!

Wow, interesting landscape wherever you are. That second pic would make a nice postcard!!
Geocaching must be fun. DH and I ran into someone doing that about a week ago when we were hiking.
Glad to hear your dog is being well-behaved. Even though Tikaani is not a Sibe, she looks like she might like to run off. I wish I had advice for you as to how to train but I do not know anything about wolfdogs so I'll leave that to the experts.

she's getting better all the time. I think some of it is just the need to get out and run. We go on walks regularly but she is always on the leash and has to stay close to me...out hiking she was technically allowed to do what she wanted...funny enough though, that worked just the opposite we thought it would...by giving her more freedom, she was more wellbehaved. How odd huh. She ran off the first time we took her off the leash, and I told AJ we weren't running through the mtns to get her (I had already slid 20 ft down the side of the mtn on my stomach once and tore my arm up..wasn't going to risk it again) and as soon as we started to walk away from her, she followed. I knew she would though because she is becoming very bonded with me.

Geocaching is basically like an international game of hide and seek. Someone hides a box (cache) and posts coordinates on a particular website, then others try to go find it. There is always a logbook inside too that you sign and leave for the next people to read about who was there before them. The only thing you really need is a GPS system (so you do have to invest a little into this hobby). if you go to www.geocaching.com you can read all about the rules. Our first find was a really tiny cache...maybe 3" big, so we were really lucky to find it...and it was just big enough that, even though someone didn't leave a trinket in it before us, that we could take and trade w/ something of our own, we left something anyhow. It's kinda funy to see what people left for you to find and leaving something that you want someone else to find. Just that you should never leave junk (some people are getting into a bad habit of leaving broken mc'ds toys and NOONE wants to find that, not even kids. Best part of all though was that b/c normally they are hikes in the woods...I can take our dog w/ us! :D Let me tell you just how exhausted she was when we got home. Didn't hear her once last night

Wow sounds fun! Those are awesome pics too. Especially that second one. I put it as my desktop pic. Hope you don't mind! It's just so beautiful. My sis is in love with Tikaani lol. I'm glad to hear she's doing so well! I'm too scared to let Zoe off leash on our walks. I know she'll run. But whenever she gets out of the house she always stays right on our property. It's odd.

I don't mind at all. I'm actually very flattered. (but if you decide to ever make any money from the picture you just have to agree to give me a cut of the profits :p lol) Tikaani really is an odd dog much of the time. If I let her off the leash near home she'd take off and go sniff everything. Away from the apts she is golden :D I think that really is my favorite photo too. She just looks so..."wolf-ish" there...maybe that is b/c she is half lol... oh, best part of the picture for my boyfriend is her dogtag. He's a total superman nut and I saw a superman tag at the Petsmart tagmaker so that's what I got her..so now she's Superdog! haha

Lol I saw that! It's cute :D She really is gorgeous though *sigh*. You should really do something with that pic. It's breathtaking. Would make a nice painting I think! Thanks for letting me take it. So our dogs are opposite lol I let Zoe out today (yes I actually called her outside lol) so she runs over to the neighbours, but she bullies their dog (who is blind), so I called her back to me, thinking she'd head to the backyard. Nope, she ran right back inside the house lol I was like "K...bye!" Silly pup :p
