Hello and welcome to the forum! Great to have you with us. I don't see any dobe or rottie in him either. Maybe some terrier & I'm guessing there were more than just a few breeds who jumped in to make that little beauty.

He definately looks like one or is a Catahoula mix.
He also made me think of a blue tick hound mix.

I can see rottie in him by the strength of his head so I'd say rottie x catahoula.

I have looked at hundreds of pictures of mixed breeds so I am not too bad at it.
First questions though are age, weight and height. Color can be very misleading, as when you start mixing strange things happen. Also purebreds can have spots or color patterns that do not meet the standard. That does not mean that they are not purebreds, just means they don't meet the standard!

I don't know much about Catahoula dogs but aren't they a breed that developed naturally from mixed breeds & have that merle coloring?

Ha! Charlie is so huge he'd look like a Maremma or Hovawart if he got any bigged and was creamy fawn.

Yes! Good point! But most breeds had quite a bit of human intervention to cause specific traits (which I'm sure is now also true in the case of Catahoulas).

Gizmo I wouldn't worry too much about what exactly your dog is mixed with...it could be mixed with quite a few breeds and you would never know it, lol...just stick with "Catahoula Mix" when people ask :) That is what everybody is pretty much saying he is ;)
My dog is a Border Collie/Australian Shepherd (Aussie)/Chow mix...go with the one your dog is "mainly" made up of.
My grandma used to have a blue heeler that looked just like that. Practically identical!

Blue heelers are VERY different. Pricked ears, short dense coat, ect. If they looked the same, you're grandmothers dog wasn't a blue heeler.

Gizmo, how big is the dog? Rotties are large dogs, so if yours only weighs about 40 lbs the chances are slim that there is any Rottie in there IMO.
