Anyone know of an inexpensive place to get a new martingale? Jenny's is all torn, frayed and faded. :( I've been looking around some sites, but the cheapest ones I've been able to find have been about $20. The one Jenny has now is patterned, lined and also a 6 foot leash. It was $7! I've checked, and they don't sell them anymore. :(
Any reccomendations and advice are appreciated. :)

Mine I got at a show and it was 25$ but I love it. If I can find their site i will let you know.
I know what you mean! I have SOO many websites that can help you- but I know for a fact that none of them will be that cheap. I am having the same problem with my whippet, Hayabusa. I want to get her another martingale because.. well the one she came with it butt ugly LOL, so I have many book marked sites. Hope these help! (Collar crazy has free shipping in Canada and the US)

OHH! And try E-bay! They have something with AMAZING prices, just make sure to check the sellers 'feedback' section to make sure they have a good reputation so that you dont get ripped off!! Here, I did a search for you:

Majestic Collars does good work, and the collars are very well made. For basic nylon, I like the collars by Premier - they hold up well.

That is very nice, I have looked at it quite a few times, myself!
I like this one, too!! I hope to someday purchase it for Busa, but only once I get some more bills paid. She is already spoiled enough! (She has a custom made sweater coming from E-bay any day now!!) :(

Try PetEdge-they carry the "Lupine" collars that you can get martingale style. Also www.3dirtydawgz.com (http://www.3dirtydawgz.com) has them too, they are like $14 or so,

Vanna has a lupinpet one and I go to petedge. They are guarenteed for life even if chewed so if hers breaks again they'll replace it free.:)
Does martingale are good for any dog breed of is better for short haired dog(exemple)? I have a lab and this collar look great!

Martingales can be used on long or short haired dogs. Its the collar of choice in sighthounds because with the narrowness of the head, most other collars can easily go off the head. The "weight" of the clip area keeps it in place without being over snug. And of course- it they pull it doesnt tighten in one place like a regular choke would- but rather gradually as an area. With a long haired dog- I do not use the ones with extra cloth on it. I use the standard nylon ones. I also use to use this style on my dobermans..

I have pictures, but they have long since died. I have had several breeds over my life time- shepherds mostly, dobes, belgiums and tervs, a dane, a aftenpincher, a jack russel, aussie and a aussie/border collie mix, and a few foster mutts, and two shelties. I started with a min. poodle when I was 8 years old, and my mother had cavaliers and one Irish setter..
However- My heart belongs to a borzoi though obviously.

Oh, please martingale users-please don't leave them on your dog. Use them only for walking, and when they are "loose" in the house or yard have them on a buckle or breakaway collar. I almost lost Romeo due to me leaving one on him-that is a thread for a rainy day, though. Old PTers remember that thread. Martingale collars do not have a buckle, you have to slip it off their head-making emergencies with them tough.

Areias is right. I do not leave collars on in the house anyway. Especially, as I do, have other dogs that play with each other. I had two shepherds one time get caught - one had his jaw in the collar, the female was being choked.

Hmmm... I've always left them on Jenny... I thought it was okay because she's the only dog in the house... she does play with colbi for a few hours every saturday... but loose... And if they're loose I think theres more chance of them getting lost...
Arg! *wieghing options*

I think you should never let a ''choke'' collar on... many accident happen because of this BUT I do agree that if she get lost...she need a collar. Maybe you should buy a nylon (not expensive) and put a tag on it. When you walk her you put the martingale, inside or loose you put the other one. It's up to you! :D

I think if I'm flipping collars often, she'll escape during the changing process or she'll just slip out of a buckle collar, I tend to only use buckles of photos...
hmmmm...
