Koko, my little rescue Shih Tzu learned fairly quickly that she had to urinate outside, before she was allowed back inside, but she just didn't seem to catch on that it wasn't permitted inside. For two days running, she has awakened me with a bark at 5:30 am to go out! And she has had no accidents in the house.

Tonight we were gone for 6 hours, and no accidents! A real blue ribbon day.

Momto Lil Buddy, I was curious so I went back and looked at your posts on Koko. It looks like it took about 2 months to housebreak Koko -is that right?

Skunkstripe, well she's had a couple of wet spots since this post. But I do think it took about two months for her to realize why she was outside. (Got her in Jan) I didn't use the crate on her initially as she lived most her life in a cage and just went wild when I put her in it. But after she got acclaimated, and realized she didn't have to stay, is when her bladder capacity started to increase.

I still have to "make" stay outside until she wets two times! It seemed initially, each incident was just a dribble. It is the short little dribbles that we still have occurring in the house.
