Hi I have a 10 year old Doberman and we got a 6 month old Rotti pup they get on great now, he was a bit grumpy at first but they soon learn who's top dog they play together All has got a second lease of life . They swap chews bones it's funny to watch I never thought they would get on so well . It's all a matter of making sure your older dog does not feel left out of anything you are doing with the pup. First couple of weeks are the worst untill your dog knows the pup is here to stay . You know your dog so go with what you think and dont be put off by other people. Good luck whatever you decide and let us know how you get on.

Hi why is the pup only 6 weeks old? its a bit young to be rehomed . 8 weeks is much better
Just be sure to not leave them alone togther for at least one month. When I went through this I even waited a bit longer than that just to be on the safe side. It takes the original dog about two weeks before he figures out the new dog is there to stay. Once they both figure out they are now part of the same pack they'll be fine, but it does take time, so just be patient.

Is your current dog normally aggressive toward other dogs? and in particular puppys?
I think it would depend on how much space and time you have to get them used to it. But training a puppy would be easier in a way (esp eliminating and eating in the same schedule as the older dog)
good luck, you will have some fun!
