I know it's not recommended, but Amber jumped in the bath with me last night. (not something I'll be doing again lol) She was desperate to get in so I let her and she just sat there and drank some water. When the bath was being emptied, she went crazy having fun. Then half an hour later, she was back in the bath (it was empty) she had jumped in there herself!

*Edited by me, have posted this in the wrong forum. Meant to put it in the general room. Sorry! *

What's not recommend about that? Just last night, Ozzy was a muddy mess so I took him in the shower with me & gave him a full-blown suds-down. I do it all the time. No sense in trying to stay dry while bathing a retriever.

Bet she loved it! Sounds like fun to me too.

LOL, that is toooo cute. Not a good thing annoying when one has bath suds that might no appeal to the pup. I would shut the door, get her own wade pool and let her play all day long. Not in the tub with suds might make her sick. Have fun.

LOL I thought I'd get a telling off by you guys for that hehehe. Hubby was worried the soap would bring her out in a rash, but I said to him she's jumped in worse stuff in the stream at the park.

I usually shut the bathroom door, but let her in as a one off. When we get the real hot weather I may let her in again then. :D

But I'll have loads of pics of her in her own pool. ;)

Our soaps can change or dry out the ph and strip out the oil from their coats, but I am sure you already know that one. Usually however- in the uh event this happens again- just rinse her off real good after the fun.. lol. I am sure she didnt get much soap on her, and by now that would have been obvious.

We have done this with our pup Cookie!
I think it's a good way of introducing pups to a larger body of water, we'll be taking Cookie to the beach in her doggie life jacket of course, so thought the bath was a good idea!!

Human shampoos, soaps, etc. wouldn't be recommended for a regular bath for a pup, I doubt it would ever make a bit of difference on an occasional basis. Even if it did dry her out, it would be nothing a little bit of coat supplements & some coat conditioning couldn't fix in a hurry.

I say a couple of girls just gotta have fun. She's a pup & won't be for long. You should enjoy your opportunities for that kind of fun & great memories while you can.:)

If you use dog shampoo, Why is that a no-no? A friend of mine had an extra large shower, with extra spray heads installed, so he can shower with his 4 Airedales. I wish I had thought of that, and started my dogs as pups like he did. He said it makes bathing 4 dogs much easier.

Saffi has got in the bath with my partner quite often....... was ok at first when he was small but hes getting so big now and theres not a lot of room for my partner so he HAS to lock the door..otherwise its bubble overdrive cos once saffi is in the bathroom ya can`t stop him ......... its really funny, partner trying to protect his "ahem ermm manhood" and saffi going "YAY PLAYTIME ".
He also LOVES the shower , and lifts his face up to it then wriggles his bottom as if to say "right now this bit"
But he is a water baby through and through :D even loves walking in the rain

Eppie tries to get in the bath with me, but she is too small to climb in (it would be nice to have her in, but I like a really hot bath, so I think it would be too hot for her). When I get out, she likes to lick my wet feet and legs!

I do this all the time with Kira and Charlie. First few times I stayed outside the bath and sprayed them. Now I just take 'em in with me and spray them. :D

When mine were pups they used to tear upstairs and hang their legs and heads over the empty bath - wagging furiously - I think they thought it was some exciting boat or something! Very endearing!

My son had a poodle cross dog when he was a kid. Annie loved water and loved Dustin. If he didn't want to share his bathtime he had to shut the door....and than she would sit outside the bathroom door and cry till he was done.

Annie was Dustin's lifetime dog....the one who never wanted to be separated from him. Hated the school bus because it took him away and hated his dad because that also meant Dustin was leaving. Butch couldn't get out of the car when he came... Annie loved everyone else ~shrugs shoulders~

We were on a camping trip one time and my son and a friend were in the lake canoeing... Annie seen them come by and in the water she went and swam out to meet them. Needless to say that he didn't leave her on shore after that as if he had not started paddling in towards her it would have been one heck of a swim.
