Hi all - new to this forum and looking for help.

My Chocolate lab got into it with my aunts ****zu(i think) anyway, i don't think anyone saw what happened but our dog was fine with the other two little dogs all day - then under the table (it was crowded) we all heard the growling and squeeling as my dog came out with the little dog in her mouth. In my opinion the little dog may have provoked my dog as she is usually very docile, but since she was attacked by a large boxer (about a year ago) she has gotten defensive a couple times. This just happened a couple of hours ago so i don't even know if the other dog is injured (no blood though). The only other time this happened with a little dog, i saw clearly that the little dog nipped my lab and she pinned the dog in her mouth - but as a soft mouth dog she just held it there growled while the other dog squeeled. I hope she doesn't hurt the other dogs but should i get help or do anything as we have a one year old daughter now (the two get along amazing and our daughter can do no wrong - zero aggression towards her) Please help as the family politics are also in jeopardy

Thanks everyone

It sounds as if the two dogs may have just had a disagreement. Dogs will be dogs, and dogs sometimes will get into fights if there is a misunderstanding between them. It doesn't sound like either dog was hurt. Just keep an eye on them both.

My dog Eevee has been in a few little spats with other dogs because they just didn't get along (including dogs owned by other parts of the family), but she's never hurt any of them, or any people for that matter. It was just a minor disagreement. >^^;<

I agree with Cheetah, it sounds just like they had a disagreement. That happens.

But I do think you should always keep an eye her when around other dogs and children. You need to watch just to make sure you know exactly what happens. If there is aggression you want to catch it in the early signs. If you see any signs toward real aggression you should seek help from a professional trainer.

One of my bitches temperments has changed recently she too is having a go at her kennel mates. I put this down to hormonial as she was due to whelp yesterday. However as she scanned no pups i put her back on steroids that she has to take for her bronchitis. So it could be thats why they are tetchy. Ive never associated it with the steroids but will now monitor the situation;)

I had a springer spanial when my kids were small
and he didn't like all dogs, he was a full male and
stood his ground . I never had to watch him with kids
he was amazing, he would lay down at the window and
the kids would kneel or stand on him to see out. I used to
tell them off move them and the dog turn my back for 2 mins
and they would all be at it again never as much as a warning
growl from the dog. What I'm saying is if you are happy with
the way the dog is with your wee one it should be fine.
