 Hi there, My name is Jane and I am a new 'Stepmum' to a beautiful boxer dog who is just over 2 years old.
My partner has had him since a puppy and he is a wonderful natured dog. He has taken to myself and my family very easily, but we have hit a big problem...
I have a cat!! We are living seperately at the moment but at some stage in the future would like to live together, but we have a problem getting the cat and dog to even slightly tolerate each other.
HELP!!!

Hi Jane,
I'm a Jane too :)

About the cat - y'know, I'd be tempted to leave them to it and allow them to sort it out themselves - that is as long as your cat is of a tough nature and not likely to pack up and leave home ;)
I have 4 cats, all pre dogs. I now have 2 dogs as well. Yes, the dogs get a telling off when they hassle the cats and vice versa, but I don't intervene - the dog will soon learn that a claw across the nose is not to be repeated too often.
I fostered a boxer for a while earlier this year - he thought it was great fun to chase the cats until one of them stood her ground and gave him what for. Strangely enough he didn't bother much after that....

Good Luck and let us know how you get on.
