I couldn't connect Friday or Saturday. Just keep trying. I was finally able to send results on Sunday. Your results remain in queue and aren't lost, so don't worry. It will send when it can.

Thanks! I don't know how long I've been waiting but I'm at 880/4000 of the new WU. Will just keep waiting.

Try quitting and restarting FAH. It attempts to send at the beginning of every session and then every so often after that. By quitting and restarting, you force it to try to send.

Thanks, will try that. I'm on my way out the door so will quit & see what happens when I return.

I just got back & it now says "Attempting to send results" when I mouse over the icon. It still says "Could not connect to work server (results)" on the main page.

I've had a WU sit completed in the queue for several weeks before. Stanford has a whole lot of collection servers, and they do go offline from time to time. As long as you're still chugging away on new work, don't worry too much about the old work. Just quit out and restart every few days to force a send.
As an advanced alternative, download the console version of the program to the same directory you already have. Create a shortcut to the .exe for the console. Go to the properties of the shortcut and add " -send all" to the Target line. Do not include the quotes but do leave a space before the dash. That will force it to attempt to submit results. It's best not to run this will the graphical version is going, though it may well not cause any problems.

Taeric, I still can't get all my results to the server. Any suggestions? Will you please have a look at the attached log file?

It looks like the server is still down. A couple of things you can do to check - 1) open a DOS window (I'm know, ancient stuff) by going to Run on the Start menu and typing cmd. Then type "ping _____" with the blank being the IP address of the server. It'll send a very small bit of data towards that IP to see the status of it. Generally you'll see some very small times (milliseconds) get returned, which is good. When I just did this now on that server IP in the log file, it got rejected, indicating the server is down. 2) the second option, which used to be the better one but is a bit of a mess now is to check Stanford's server status page (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/serverstat.html). This used to be formatted nicely, but it's just a string of data now. Anyway, if you search for the IP, the word "reject" comes right after it, which seems to indicate there's a problem. Usually it says "down" if the server is offline, so I'm not sure exactly what's going on with it to make it reject the WUs.
Anyway, there's nothing much you can do on your end when their servers aren't playing nicely. Sometimes the servers are working and WUs still don't get sent, and there is something you can do with that. In that case, check the configuration and ensure that "Use Internet Explorer settings" is turned off, especially if you are using IE7 as there's some kind of conflict with that version of the browser. That does not appear to be the case based on the server info in this situation, but it couldn't hurt to check anyway.

LOL, I'm OLD & old school ... I hated Windows for years. Will give it a try & change those settings.

Just an FYI ... it still hasn't "found" that one work unit that got lost in the stats. On my end, I see 19 finished WUs. I expected results to update & catch up after solving this problem. Oh well.

Interesting - Stanford shows that you submitted your last WU today, though it has not incremented the counter or points. Perhaps it was stuck so long that it missed the deadline (it should show in the log file if that's the case). On the bright side, this is generally a very rare occurrence, and in the grand scheme of things, the overwhelming majority of the work we do does count.

Ooops, I guess I should have bugged you earlier. Oh well, I'm still plugging away. Just glad we got around to fixing my mystery. Thanks again.:)

As a follow up, Stanford is all kinds of messed up today with the results servers. They expect the problem to be fixed by Monday. WUs are being sent and received properly; the points and WU counts just aren't going up.

I think i've mentioned before that the total number of work units returned and the number of work units completed will not always agree. If a work unit terminates prematurely, for any reason, it may count as a work unit returned, but not as a work unit completed. I have had a few terminate prematurely, and my total count of work units returned vs work units completed is off by those. My total WU completed is 2 or 3 fewer than my total WU returned.
