Does anyone have their dog officially registered as a therapy dog and go to places with them? I'm on a listserve w/ all husky owners and a few people have their dogs registered as therapy dogs and love it. I know we have to have basic obedience training for her first and then therapy training takes about a year so we're looking for some place close for that sort of training now. Woud love to hear about anyone else's story.

Well my AmStaff is a Therapy/Service Companion. They usually wait till at least a yr to be qualified.. And If you get your dog up on basic obediance.. Like stay.. for a period of time.. Being able to be left with someone else with out barking whining, or acting freaked out in any way, they need to be able to go to a crowd of people, and walk and still listen, and not get scared... UmmmStay in a lay position for a period of time.. Heal.. Ummm there are some more i cant remember.. then find someone that does CGC Cert. And go to the test with them.. it is USUALLY like 50 dollers or something. Also Look up stuff on the net, there is ALOT out there. GOod luck!
