The basic bottom line is that you allow the university to use your computer's "extra capacity" to make calculations to assist them in their research. This allows them lots more capacity than their in-house computers could ever recreate.

It works in the background & I hardly notice it is there. When you need your computer's capacity, the program automatically backs off & allows you to do what you want.

A very fine cause! Give it a try. It's easy! It's beneficial! And, just another do-gooder thing you can do in this world that is painless, free & easy.

Did you download the program & put in a user name? If so, look down in the right corner of your screen & see if you see the little red icon that looks like the standard handle on an outdoor water faucet (or wheel cog). If you double click that icon, you can "see it working".

You might have to configure it (I forget), if so, just right click on that icon & choose "configure" ... put in your user name & team number (52013).

If it is running, you can just mouseover that icon too to see where the current WU (work unit) stands too.

You'll see other options when you right click too. Not to worry, you won't show up in Team Stats until you've finished your first WU.

Yes you def have to configure it otherwise it has no way of knowing you are on our team. You can do that later if you forget but you might as well do it when you set it up.

I've wondered what that visual was all about too. Glad you're up & running.

Does anyone know what the blob is???

It is a screensaver (basically) showing the complex molecules of the type that the folding network is analyzing.

Does anyone know what the blob is???
It is a drawing of the molecule that your machine is folding.
