View Full Version : Tats
Does anyone have tattoos of their dogs or dogs they've had in the past? I know w/ the seahorse organization I'm w/ a LOT of people have tattoos of seahorses and seadragons. I'd love to see pictures if anyone has one of theirs.
A friend of mine is buying me a tat for my 21st which is in 7 days and I found a gorgeous one on Tattoofinder.com of a wolf w/ a tribal. If you go to the website and search for one titled "howl at the moon" you can see the one I want to get....looks JUST like Tikaani! I'd get it on my lowerback...(at least that's what I'm thinking...but I'm such a chicken when it comes to needles...especially running over my spine...eek)

Wow! That looks totally awesome!! I really think it'd be cool to get. My sis wants a wolf tat too. She already has the chinese symbol for "wolf" tattooed on her hip. I have these

For my next I was thinking of my birth sign with something, but I dunno yet. I was also thinking of getting Zoe's paw prints and her name underneath.
I don't think tats hurt. Mine never did. They actually felt nice. And if you can't see, and just relax, you'd be fine. Even my sis, who sworn she'd never get one, and is afraid of needles got one. It did hurt her, but it wasn't excruciating. It was on her hip. If it's on the bone, it tends to be more uncomfortable. Fleshy areas feel alright though. Everyone's pain tolerance is different anyway. Even if you are afraid, you might just find out that it's all in your head, and it really doesn't hurt. That was my experience anyway. And I was so scared before I got my first, that I got nauseous :)

What a gorgeous tattoo! Go for it :)
I've got 4, one on shoulder, one on arm, one round belly button and one on the base of my back (on the RHS so i guess more on the back of my hip...) I'll post pics if I can find them...
They don't hurt - as such. It really does depend where you have them. A good way of finding out how much it will hurt is to pinch the skin. There's a big difference for instance in the small of your back, to the shoulder. My artist said it depends how much stretch the skin has in it. Not much (ie shoulder blade where it's already stretched tight) is not very painful. Small of back (where I have mine) there's a lot of stretch and was more painful. Also, what looks to be a small tat is actually 3x that size as they have to stretch out the skin to ink it.
Does that make any sense at all?
And as for the pain - well it's more of a graze - when they do the outline it's deeper, but colouring in tends to go over the same spot a few times, so feels like a graze that you're scratching.....
Can't be that bad - I'd never have gone back for more if it was - and the most painful was the 2nd which is the one on my lower back.
If you do decide to go for it, use haemorhoid cream on it for a week or so - this reduces the bruising and also bleeding, so helping the tat to heal more quickly with less scabbing, which in turn leaves a better coloured tat.

Lol I told my sis it wouldn't hurt too bad. So she got the chinese symbol for "Wolf". I sat with her while she had it done and the whole time, she was glaring daggers at me. But I guess it hurt her more because she had it done on her left hip. Right on the bone tends to hurt a bit more.

I have a sprite (fairy) on my left breast .It is mainly fatty tissue there so really does'nt that much .I also have a wizard on my right shoulder.
All are placed so that they can't be seen.
Most people do not even know I have any.In summer if i wear low cut tops then you can see them.
I'm actually getting a tattoo of my dog, Sara. My boyfriend is designing it then I'll have it planted on me somewhere. In the future I'll also be getting an Elephant and a rat.
That was something I had thought about too....where to get it at. I thought it would be nice on the small of my back but I'm sure I'd be in tears from pain as the needle went over my spine...i can imagine it now :( *sobs* I was going to get it on my shoulder but I have rethought that because when I get married (if that day ever comes lol) I don't want it to show if my dress is strapless...even if there's makeup to cover it up...I don't want to chance the makeup smearing...just my own personal consideration. So now I'm thinking of getting it on my back on the lower righthand side (rather than centered on the small)

Like on the back of your hip? That shouldn't be painful at all. Trust me, it's really not so bad. It's worth it. My sis, as I said earlier, had it done on her hip. It hurt enough that she glared at me. But she's still planning her second tat, which is also going to be a wolf, to go with her chinese symbol. The worst part of it all is the anticipation. As I was worrying over getting my first one, I was almost sick from it. Then as I got it done, I laughed it up. You'll end up working yourself into such a state, that the actual tat is laughable.

I have 5 tats, None of Dogs, But thought of getting a side shot of my Tysons head on my calf. I have my name in Chinese*I Hope* on the back of my neck, paw prints on one breast, my sign on the other, a pegasis on one ankle, and a heart with wings on the other. And As far as spotsthat dont hurt, well one ankle and one breast didnt.. the other did.. it depends on the artist.. how heavy handed they are and all.. ;)
Where I'l getting the one of my dog is gonna HURT badly. It'll be right over the top of my spine, and it'll be quite big with lots of shading. Probably take more than one sitting to get it finished.

guess its gonna be a boring small one on the top of the arm LOL
i, personally, won't ever get a tattoo on my arms anywhere for many reasons...I wouldn't mind one over my shoulderblade but it comes back to the potential wedding dress thing. the tat i want (if i ever balls up enough to get it) I wan't it approx 6-7" tall

I like that one and a good place if you wear Birkenstocks like I do the only shoe that fits me comfortable enough.
I have two on my back shoulders, they are parrotts I owned and one on right calf of hummingbird sipping from a flower. I would of taken a photo but need legs shaved, lol. I will though as it is a nice one done by a good business here.:)

I have three small tats on my lower legs, above the ankle a bit- all from my 'car days'. I really want to get Iggy (Italian Greyhound) ones...thinking of something along the lines of this without the words, wrapped around my leg.
