What about a kong that you can stuff with treats - your puppy is certainly going to have everything - especially No. 14!

Kongs are toys which are virtually indestructible. You would get the smallest size as your dog will have a small mouth. You stuff the Kong with treats - for Jake I put in some chocolate buttons (doc chocolate of course I'm sure you know that human chocolate is poisonous to canines) some squares of cheese, bits of apple (jake loves apple) and some dried food (which I deduct from his daily ration). He has a great time getting the food out of the Kong. He's rolls it, throws it in the air, bounces it on the ground until - hey presto - its all gone. If you look at his picture on the gallery you'll see one where which it titled 'please fill up my kong'.
Here's a link to the kongs

and some information you may enjoy.

A kong is a good investment (but it doesn't squeak)

Look at this link - you can actually get free samples of puppy stuff

Yes you can buy them at Pet Stores.

Incidentially, there is a monkey sanctuary in England - and the chimps, orangutangs, etc., are given Kongs for play enhancement!

Best of luck

I found a good site you might be interested in as a puppy owner and someone who wants to understand canine behaviour - its very interesting. Like everything else when it comes to resesarch don't take everything as gospel as what works for one doesn't always work for another.

Happy reading!

Yes, I think you have everything, only Purina Puppy Chow is not the best food, I just found out that Canidae and Nutro are better, you can order online:

Good luck with your puppy, what kind are you getting?

Yes, thanks for that site, I know Purina isn't the best chioce to pick:( , but I have already bought it. Actually, I think after that 1st bag I bought, once I start getting her into eating it, I may buy Natural Balance.

P.S. I'm getting a sheltie female, Basil

I have a question,

Well since the drive to go get Basil will be about 4 in half hours, do I feed her on the way? Or will she become sick from driving?

Thanks in advance,

Sheltie
