I was wondering if anyone had any kind of information about a question I have about my shih tzu/pitbull mix. He is 2-4 months old and he was first with other dogs and cats. So I was wondering if this would continue for me seeing that I have two other dogs and two cats. He is great with all of them now but someone had scared me because they said that since he is part pitbull he will eventually get agressive towards the other animals. Does anyone have any information about this?

Personally.. I have a Am Staff, and he is going on 8,and has no issues. There are a few other members here with Staffies, and pits with no issues with other pets. Since he is soo young, and if you socialize him regularly with other animals, he should be fine. BUT.. Just keep a close eye on him at all times, because you never know his family history.

Just like a child.....its all in the raising!!!! (training) :teaching: If you teach him manners and he will be fine :) ....being part Pit Bull makes no difference at all....some of the pitty's I know are the sweetest most gentle dogs:wubsmiley: ....I am sure you will get confirmation of that from other Pitbull owners...and by the way...Welcome to the forum :wave2:

Thank you for the messages I feel better. I stay home all day everyday so I am constantly watching them and potty training and everything else. My only free time is when he takes a nap then I finally get to sleep for a half hour. I swear puppies are just like human infants wake up in the middle of the night then wake you up lol. So I'm hoping that all will go well with him because my family(including the other 4 animals) has really taken a liking to him.

Hi, I don't think you will have any problems as long as you bring him up right, I have a Staffie who gets on fine with other dogs and my brother has 4 (3 males and a female) and they all get on fine

I'd be more worried about the shi tzu half than I would the pit half. Imagine an ankle biter with the strength and determination of a pit.:D

Most of what you hear about Pit's is not true; it is hype. Yes some Pits are aggressive but it is due more because of their upbringing then it is about their breed type. Bring your dog up right witht he proper training and socialization and you will have a wonderful animal.:)

I think the answer is that no matter what sex or breed your puppy you can never predict how it will get along with your other dogs when it becomes an adult. A vast majority of dogs will get along just fine, but occasionally you will come across a combination of dogs that simply can not get along together. All we as owners can do is keep socialising our dogs responsibly to maximise chances of having a dog-friendly dog. On any doggy forum you will always find sad stories of people whose own dogs have started to fight seriously enough to have to consider re-homing one, and they seem to come from many different breeds and types. These cases are the exception rather than the rule but when it comes to dogs there are no guarantees.

Being a Shiht zu and Pit mix I think his bark would be much worse then his bite:confused:  just kidding, I would watch him, he will show you his personality in due time .Just take him seriously.I think he will make a lovely pet:) :)

So far he gets along good with everyone except my husky but thats because he bit him in the one place he really shouldn't be bit....So my husky is going to have to get over that before he can welcome the puppy near him again.

Make sure that bite was playful or you might be having a problem, a Husky is not a dog that will back down. I hope there opposite sexes.

He was trying to play with him but he just cant reach the huskys back and they are the same sex. The husky has been bitten by other dogs before and he just ran off, he really has never been the one to go after another dog unless he is playing. The most he has ever done is growl and walk away. I'm not to worried though because I am home all day and everyday so they are never left alone.
