I wanted to share my stories and read others about foster dogs you have had. Please share stories and photos of those fosters who still have a place in your heart.

------

My two weren't technically fosters - we were just a vacation home, I suppose.

Coco
Coco was found by my friend. She brought her over my house thinking she was Kiara. Their parents would not allow her to keep them, so we kept her.
I fell complety in love with this girl - she fit in so perfectly and I wanted to badly for her to be mine. I don't think there's another dog, other than my four, that I think about so often.
I ended up finding her owners thru PetFinder. About a week or so after we reunited them, they called asking if we wanted her. Coco kept getting out and they thought she'd be happy with our family. I would have said yes in a heartbeat but my parents said no.

I have tears in my eyes writing this... this girl just completely stole my heart.

Vincezo
Vince has quite the story with him.
My brother and father found Vincenzo and his owner being pulled away in the ocean, his owner was drowning. The paramedics wanted to take the dog to the pound but we said we'd keep him until she was able to get out of the hospital. The lady was almost lifeless. The lady was brought to the hospital, signed herself out, and then was arrested later that night.

We also had her cell phone, as my brother looked up and down the beach to find someone and found her bag. Her cellphone was dead so we had to track down a charger and had to find somehow to get in contact with this lady as the police were not telling us anything.

We finally got in contact with her father who had NO clue what was going on. All he knew we he got a phone call saying she was arrested.

We told my neighbor who works for channel 10 news and she said we HAD to do a story about this. We ending up on the 11 o'clock news, Dad, Vince, and myself. This was when we still had no clue how the lady was, where she was, or what we were supposed to do with her dog.

Meantime, falling in love.... Didn't they look like a family?

The lady ended up coming and getting her dog. The whole time she was here she just complained about how badly the hospital and police treated her. LADY, your life was SAVED. Your dog was SAVED. You could have died. :wtf:

Haha I have had too many to write in here!

But, I will try to list them, with a bit of a story.

I had a Min Pin Named Louie.. he was a freak of nature! He came to us from a close family friend that lived in KY where we had just moved here from. Her boyfriend beat her really bad, and she had no where to go.. So she came here with him. She left him here to go get some stuff.. and we haven't heard back from her :-/ So, we figured she decided to stay with the man. Not sure. *I was probably 14 or so*. But we had to find him a home on a farm, because he barked... NON STOP!

When I was about 15 or 16, I went to GA to live with my Aunt for a little while, and go to school there. And down the road from her house was a small trailer park. And me and my cousins walk to it all the time. Well we spotted this yellow lab,and 4 puppies under a trailer. Well, we walked around with them trying to find there owners, and with a cpl people telling us the dogs appeared about a week ago.. And no one knew them.. I took them in. *My aunt had a BIG kennel outside her house. The lady that lived there before her Bred dogs and kept them in there* So, we put them in there, and I tried to find homes for them. Well In the Mist I noticed the puppys weren't right, something was wrong. So, I cried and begged for my Aunt to take them to the vet. Well, we did. The Yellow lab (Father, mom no where in site) was fine, healthy and all, but all the pups had Mange. :-( So, we got them all treated.. and to make a long story short.. found homes for all, But this one Female pup.. She looked NOTHING like the others. The others looked like labs, she looked shep/hound.. :-/ But I fell in love with her. I convinced my aunt to let me keep her. She was the best puppy! Well a week after we got them, the trailer they were living under, was knocked down by this Huge tornado ..which happened to just go through our front yard, and into the woods next to the house! Well Roxy came home back to FL with me.. And her and my dog Tasha LOVED each other.. a bit too much.. my mom said she was getting too big, and we had to rehome her. I think about her ALL THE TIME! And wonder what happened to her.. I miss her very much!

I have had 3 foster pups from the SPCA.. They were Dauchsands/min pin mix.
2 females and a male.

And I had Phebe, which when I got her, her name was Baby. And she wasn't intended to be kept.. :-/ But we did, and ultimately decided to re-home her as well.

I have had more, I just can't think of them at the moment. I have also had foster Kittys, and kittens.
So, Yea! :-D

We have had three fosters since Lily died. They are our 30th, 31st, and 32nd foster Greys.

The first one, from the May haul that occurred during Monkey's visit, was Craigie Farway. We had him for several weeks until he was adopted. He was a beautiful dark red brindle and seems to be doing well in his adoptive home.

A week after we adopted out Farway, we were asked if we could take in a bounce, named Wyatt. The adopters who surrendered Wyatt claimed he had extreme SA, but I think there must have been something else going on. He had every opportunity to act out with us, and he was an angel. he was the kind of foster you think about keeping. He got along great with Damiri and they played constantly. He went to his adoptive home, yesterday.

This morning, we got a call that there was another bounce being surrendered, today. The dog's name is Tater. Tater was also from the May haul, but he was adopted out, directly. The family returning him originally said the son was allergic, but then somewhere along the way, the story changed and the mom was allergic. I think they just wanted to get rid of the hound. So, we have Tater, today. He seems to be doing fine. A handsome red brindle, slightly overweight. We'll have him in shape in no time.

I've only fostered one dog it was Zephyr's mom Caitlyn. Zephyr's breeder decided to place Caitlyn in a good "forever" home after Zephyr's litter was weaned and placed. She ended up being placed with an elderly woman and her son and daughter-in-law. It was a wonderful match. Caitlyn was very devoted to her owner and she was the light of Katherine's life.

Unfortunately Katherine's health declined and she had to be placed in a nursing home. Due to Caitlyn's protective nature, Katherine's son and daugher-in-law didn't want to keep her so I opted to take her in and work with Zephyr's breeder to find her just the right home. Caitlyn remained with me for about six months, when what I thought was the perfect home came up. Caitlyn then moved in with a young couple their toddler and another older lab. Things looked to be working out really well ... when one day just before Christmas I got a call from the husband saying that they could no longer keep Caitlyn.

Rather than have Caitlyn bounce around from one home to another it was decided that she return to her original home in Minnesota. Fostering can be very heartbreaking. I doubt I'd do it again. You get way too attached.
