I have had this lil 2yr old pom for 3 days. I rescued him from a horrible home. He was extremely neglected. He is so tiny. He weighs 4.4lbs. He is so sweet. You can tell he just wasn't loved. He has hardly any hair. The lady told me she was treating him for sarcoptic mange. Well, I have treated that before, but he just didn't look like thats what it was. Once you have a dog with any mange you just know. Well, she couldn't get him better, so she just put him outside. That little!!!! made me angry. So I asked her if she would sell him to me. She said just to take him. She said he cost $600, but since she couldn't sell him with no hair she just wanted him gone. So I took Homer. We went straight to the vet, and guess what no mange...he has flea allergies and a soy allergy....she just fed him whatever...and he was eat up with fleas...I have never seen so many fleas on a dog. well now that you know the history I need some advice...is there any thing I can give him to help his hair grow back. He is full blooded teacup pomeranian...but he looks like a teacup chinese hairless. he is so sweet...the lady told me he wasn't good with kids but he loves my 4 yr old. any way, i want to help him the best that i can. so please if any one can help please feel free;)

I dont know much about the hair, I'm sure it will grow back on its own...Although I would try maybe putting him on Nutro, it doesnt have corn, and since i have been feeding it to my dog, her skin and coat has been much healthier.

but 4.4lbs is not small for a pom, its normal weight...I would just get him on some food he is not allergic too and make sure he gets lots of love...

Treat him for fleas and ticks and get him on some heartworm and im sure he will start getting better soon..

thanks so much for the advice. i don't know anything about the breed. a lil but not much. this is my first time dealing with the breed. i am used to hounds or chihuahas. i love my pom though. he is such a sweetheart. i am glad to know that 4.4lbs isn't small for his breed. my niece had a pom one time years ago, but he was big he weighed 13lbs. he was the same height as my 12in. beagle. thanks for the food advice. any more advice please feel free. as far as the pics go, i have no clue how to put one on here. i have a digital camera, but i don't have a printer yet. know how? please do tell...:D

a pom that weighed 13 pounds?!?! The AKC says 4-6 is prefered but they can get from 3-7. http://www.akc.org/breeds/pomeranian/index.cfm

You have a beagle too?!?! I would love to see pics!! I will try to post some pics of mine soon!

As far as posting pics, it's hard to explain, but if you know how to attach them to an email I'd be happy to help, just send a PM:

Have you ever heard of "black skin disease"? It is noted amongst poms. I've been researching the breed. Check out this website, I think you'll find it helpful: http://www.marvistavet.com/html/body_alopecia_x.html
