Clipping

Hi,
my dog is such a sweetie in everyway except clipping! Whish is a prob as she is part yorkie and therefore gets v long coat. I try clipping her with special scissors i got from crufts as she doesnt like the clippers i have, but she takes it for so long then gets nasty, does anyone know of any clippers which she really wont notice that i could try her with? or any other tips? even if she takes it 4 about 10 mins id get further than using scissors!
I have had her done professionally but hate leaving her there 4 so long!

I use Oster Clippers - takes me about 1/2 hour 3/4 hour for a poodle. I haven't clipped Jake yet so I don't know how long he'd take.
But they do make a noise.

My vet's secretary uses a pheromone appeasing plug in for her dogs - she is a foster mum to dogs from Dogs Trust so she gets all personalities of dogs. She swears by it. Just a thought!

oster clippers r the best. but, i would just suggest taking time with her, making her stand on the table and you turning the clippers on. don't clip her just let her get used to the sound. do that for 20 mins each day and then when you have to clip her again...do your best. thats all i got. =D

oster or andis are grate clippers andis are lovly and quite if u r going to clip ut own dog i would surgest getting shown as u can cut the dog i would surgest using a 5 blade for a little yorky they will set u back about £110 for the clippers then about £20 for a blade and they will need to be sharpend as well.

if u take it to a groomers u will only have to leave ur dog for about 90 mins to 2 hours and u have to think is if u r eva unable to clip ur own dog then it will have to be done at a shop and it will not be used to going there thats y its better for a young dog get used to it.
as it is very hard to groom an elderly dog and sometimes may take more than one person, just a tought
