mystery, Maremmas are a flock guardian dog. There are a few dogs similar to Maremmas such as
a Kuvasz

an Akbash

a Great Pyrenees

and the Polish Tatra sheepdog

All very beautiful IMO, and yes they look alike.

A lot of the bully breeds look the same. Tons of ppl mix them up. The AmStaff, Staffy and APBT are pretty common mix-ups. Argentine Dogo is another, as well as the American Bulldog.
I get these two mixed up all the time...

That Saluki does kind of resemble a dobe.

yeah, but they have sleeker faces when they're puppies, i guess dobes get skinny faces wher they are older.
but yeah, i got that from a kennel website. they have some beautiful puppies, even a Voltaire looking one. They got a new stud because before there were cream and golden colors, now they have some tricolors
and yes, i can't tell the difference between pitties and am staffs, and all those.

I ran into a man in Virginia the other day who had a maremma. It was really neat to have the two dogs together then you could see the difference.

I knew a lady that had two-they were gorgeous and sooo big! She didn't treat them well (heartworms and lots of matting) but I'm sure they would have been beautiful cleaned up. They can be a little challenging though for a submissive or first time dog owner.
